What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?
By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? (Romans 6:1-2)
There used to be a segment on The Real daytime talk show where four bold, diverse, and outspoken hosts identified various trends they would like to ban or "tap out." For instance, Adrienne Houghton said she would like to tap out the trend of people wearing chokers. Tamera Mowry-Housley would like to tap out the act of men wearing pants so low that their underwear shows. Jeannie Mai would like to ban the man bun. Loni Love wants to tap out the action of people cutting in front of her in line.
Everybody might have a list of things they would like to tap out. For instance, I would like to tap out hearing someone eat while talking to me on the telephone. I would tap out bullying and robocalls. My list continues.
There are some things that every Christian should want to tap out. It is easy to come up with a list because God gave us a lot of help. Every "Do not" in the Bible is also a "tap out." Notice, we should want to tap out the trend or bad behavior but never the person who is doing it.
Let's tap out sin, hatred, lies, cheating, stealing, infidelity, unfairness, manipulation, and everything else that God forbids. Let's "tap in" those things that please God according to what He commands.
What do you want to tap out? What do you want to tap in?
