THe GTA AM tour returns to the Devil's pulpit

for the Bmo world elite summit

Caledon Village ON (May 5, 2014) - Caledon Village ON (May 5, 2014) - What a day!!! The BMO World Elite Summit was played today at the Devil`s Pulpit Golf Association, and with Mother Nature finally giving the Tour it's due with the nice spring day. Our Host today, a spectacular 315 acre private golf club, set in the rolling Caledon hills, Devil`s Pulpit Golf Association is an award winning, 36 holes facility like no other, an exciting modern golf design, providing strategic challenge, with the wondrous natural beauty of the Niagara Escarpment abounding, and imaginative features that lull a golfer into a false sense of security. The two award winning golf courses that make up the Devils Pulpit Golf Association, Devil's Pulpit and Devil's Paintbrush, consistently find themselves on the "Best Of" lists from the likes of Golf Digest, Score Golf Magazine, and Golf Weekly. Today the Tour had the privilege of playing the Devil's Pulpit course and the course conditions, the players were treated to, were outstanding for spring. The greens were smooth and receptive; the fairways were lush, giving the players a perfect lie every time ... if they took advantage of it, and for the 101 players that came out, set to battle, they were primed and ready to go low and the results would show ... no one gave up.

In the Championship Flight today, Ryan Taylor (Uxbridge ON) made his first event of the 2014 Tour season a good one, when he turned in his card with 9 pars, 8 bogies, and a birdie for a round of 79 that would be good enough for a one stroke victory. To determine second and third place, card matching was used as three would enter the clubhouse with matching rounds of 80, last week's winner of the Kingervison Classic Stephen Wright, Jay Skukowski (Toronto ON)  and Ian Frauts (Stouffville ON). When matching the inward nine scores, it would be Stephen taking home the TaylorMade Wedge for second place having carded a 40 over Jay who would take third as his card showed a 43 while Ian had posted a 43.

In The A-Flight, playing in his first event of the GTA AM Tour season, Robert Sherkin (Toronto ON) posted a round of 86 today, and to his surprise would be good enough to be atop the leaderboard of 25 players at the end of the day, however, he would not find himself alone, Mike Hubbs had also turned in a matching 86, unfortunately, when a playoff was called only Robert was present, thereby securing his first Tour victory winning this week's BMO World Elite Summit. In third place, makes his return to the Tour playing in his first event of the season with a score of 87, Shavi Kahlon (Brooklin ON).

In the B-Flight, with 36 players competing in today's event, it would come down to a one hole play-off to determine the winner with Micheal Cann and Brett Parry (Newmarket ON) topping the leaderboard having both shot rounds of 84. When the dust settled from a back and forth play-off it would be Brett Parry who would be crowned the winner of the BMO World Elite Summit, marking the third time in a row he has finished in the top three this short season. Alone in third was David Quennell (Midhurst ON) who finished 2 strokes back with a round of 86.

In the C-Flight, It would be a return to the winners circle for one of the most genial players on Tour, Mark Matusiak (Toronto ON), who last won on Tour back in 2012, played a very steady round and finished his day with matching scores of 44 on the inward and outward nines to finish with an 88 on the day. Alone in second, Scot Spencer, who was on fire on the front nine, playing it in 40 strokes. Unfortunately, the wheels would fall off and he would struggle through the back to keep it together, fininshing one shot back of Mark, turning in a round of 89. To determine third place, card matching would be needed as three players turned in their cards with matching rounds of 95, Rob Olivier, Robert Perri (Toroto ON), and Ian Lederer (Toronto ON). When matching the back nine scores, it would be Rob taking home the third place prizing, having carded a 45 over Robert who finished with a 46 and Ian who struggled on the final three holes, scoring a 52.

The winner of the closest-to-the-pin was Doug McNeil, winning a dozen TaylorMade golf balls. As in previous years, and at every event, there will be the Mazda Hole in One hole, where all players will have a chance to win a $2,500 sponsor product shopping spree. The winner of the Hole in One closest to the pin contest was Kevin Blitzer. Along with these prizes, Petro-Canada, TaylorMade and Mill Street Brewery products are awarded to the top 3 finishers in each of the four Flights. The Tour also awards a draw prize at each event for a $50 certificate redeemable at the Mill Street Brew Pub; today's winner of the Mill Street Brewery Certificate was Laz Nussis.

Another new addition to the 2014 Tour prizing is an opportunity to win a $20 Ultra 94 Preferred Pricing gas card. A per-event draw will take place from all players who fire a score of 94. The winner of the BMO World Elite, Ultra 94 $20 gas card this week was Doug Cann of the B-Flight.
