The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) was honored with a Public Service Commendation for the Authority's continued service of taking people to the places that enhance their lives. Hillsborough County Commissioner Pat Kemp presented the commendation, which highlighted the Authority's exceptional commitment to serving the community, at the County Commissioners meeting on Thursday, September 20.
Commissioner Kemp spoke on the vital role that HART has played in meeting the county's growing transit needs. During her presentation, Kemp praised HART leadership and employees for their efforts and significant contributions to the Tampa community to improve mobility and accessibility throughout the County. She highlighted the recent achievements of thirteen HART operators, who achieved outstanding safety milestones in safe driving and service. Also, the latest August 2018 bus ridership numbers exceed one million for the first time since mid-2017.
"We have the best team at HART. I am always amazed and proud of their professionalism and commitment to the Authority's mission and vision," said HART Interim CEO Jeff Seward. "HART leadership is grateful to have received this honorable commendation on behalf of the Authority. We continue to commit to providing innovative and reliable transit services in our community, and would like to thank the Board of County Commissioners for recognizing HART's contributions to Hillsborough County."
