Living to Serve God by Serving Humanity

The best way to give thanks to God is by serving others. Pastor Jakes is asking all members and friends of West Point to perform ACTS OF SERVICE every day during November and December by showing the face of Jesus to someone without expecting anything in return. The "Be Good to People" is an initiative birthed out of Colorado. To learn more, visit begoodtopeople.com

Matthew 25:35-36

As a faith family, we have always responded to the needs of God's children who are experiencing lack. As November and December are our months of giving thanks through ACTS OF SERVICE, let us consider serving women and children as our first movement.

LET'S HAVE SOME FUN FOR THE HOLIDAYS

CHRISTMAS SUNDAY MORNING

STEP UP CAMPAIGN

The photos below show the completed project of the front steps, a new ramp on the northwest entrance, and new railings to assist with accessing the stage in the worship center. The renovations are paid in full, but a STEP UP campaign is necessary to keep our fiscal house in order. Pastor Jakes asks every member and friend of West Point to pray about additional financial gifts you can share during the last quarter of 2022 to replenish our line of credit. If your gifts can be shared in 2023, they will gladly be received. No gift is too large or small. We need everyone to seek God for what they can contribute to retire this debt. It's not about equal giving but equal sacrifice. A pledge card will be available for those attending in person. If you worship with us virtually, using the information at the bottom of the STEP UP CAMPAIGN banner, email your commitment by supplying the information requested. To access the email address, click the email below or the green mail link at the bottom of the newsletter. Lastly, our members with limited mobility applauded the side entrance reconstruction from steps to a ramp. To God be the glory for what God is doing at West Point.

WEST POINT'S COVID TASK FORCE UPDATE

As our pastor and WP task force continue monitoring Covid-19 and its variants while adhering to the guidelines of the CDC, IDPH, and CDPH, it is being asked of all attendees to follow the recommendation of our health experts. The CDC has canceled social distancing requirements but strongly recommends in-door masking. Some parishioners and guests will continue wearing a mask, while others will not. Respecting their choice and space is essential. This level of respect includes not mask shaming while asking the person if they are comfortable with you shaking their hand or hugging them. Lastly, if you feel the slightest under the weather, please stay home and recuperate. Let us work together to keep each other safe. Vaccination and booster shot facilities are still available for those seeking one or the other; it includes children. The CDC has approved a new booster shot, and it is available through your physician or pharmacy. The booster shots target both the original strain of the coronavirus and the omicron BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants that most people are catching now. This double-barreled vaccine is called a bivalent vaccine (PBS.org). Safety and spirituality are best practices for our ministry.

GRACE GIVER (2 Cor. 9:7, AMP)

7) Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, “prompt to do it”) giver [whose heart is in his giving].

We need your assistance in continuing to provide ministry to our community and abroad. Your gift of grace aids us in accomplishing our call to serve. Below are ways to sow your seed. All gifts over $600.00/year are tax deductible.
