WILPF US Stands With Gaza

Take Action to End Genocide, Displacement and Destruction

The US Section of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, stands in solidarity with the people of Gaza in demanding an end to the genocide, forced displacement, and destruction they are enduring.

We were horrified and found it morally reprehensible that the Israeli Security Cabinet voted on May 5th to take over all of Gaza by force and ethnically cleanse the 2.2 million Palestinians who live there and who have endured 19 months of relentless violence and cruelty.

Israel’s ongoing bombardments, drone and missile strikes have caused devastating civilian casualties, 53,000 Gazans killed, the majority of them women and children; 120,000 Gazans wounded — let it be noted that Gaza has more child amputees than anywhere in the world, well over 4,000 children have lost one or more limbs.

Israel has turned Gaza into rubble, destroying all infrastructure: hospitals, universities, agricultural fields and olive and almond groves, churches and mosques, schools, libraries, cultural centers, health clinics and homes. Women and children are disproportionately affected, suffering profound trauma and loss.

Israel is using starvation and humanitarian aid as weapons of war. For over two months, Israel has refused entry into Gaza all deliveries of food, potable water, fuel to run hospital generators and 1st responders’ vehicles, tents and other means of cover from harsh weather, women’s and girls’ sanitary supplies. Israel has refused doctors and nurses admittance to Gaza. Children are dying of starvation. The UN reports that 66,000 children are at risk of starving to death. Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA’s Commissioner-General posted on X:

“No Escape: death follows families in Gaza wherever they go. No place is safe. No one is spared.”

As members of a global community that values peace, justice, freedom and human rights, MEPJAC calls on:

  1. The U.S. government to immediately end military aid and arms sales that contribute to these atrocities. The US government has provided Israel with over $20B of US made F-16 and F-35 bombers and the 2000lb, 500lb and 200lb bombs those fighter plane dropped on civilians.
  2. The international community to demand an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.
  3. All relevant bodies to ensure humanitarian aid reaches civilians in Gaza.
  4. International courts and institutions to investigate and prosecute war crimes and crimes against humanity.
  5. Governments, NGOs, and civil society organizations to uphold and defend the right of Palestinians to remain on their land and live in freedom, safety, and dignity.

We ask all members of WILPF US to write their Members of Congress and President Trump to DEMAND THAT THE US INTERVENE TO STOP ISRAEL’S SIEGE OF GAZA AND TO ENSURE ALL NECESSARY HUMANITARIAN AID BE IMMEDIATELY DELIVERED TO GAZANS.
