TAKE ACTION ➔ Housing

As the Illinois legislative session comes to a close, you can help provide critical support to women and families facing the threat of homelessness by calling 217-782-6830 or by submitting an opinion online encouraging Governor Pritzker to SIGN HB 3331 INTO LAW. The bill will make much-needed improvements to our state’s Homeless Prevention Program, which assists thousands of women and families every year.
TAKE ACTION ➔ Education

As the Illinois legislative session comes to a close, you can help expand access to higher education for Illinois families by calling 217-782-6830 or by submitting an opinion online encouraging Governor Pritzker to SIGN HB 2237 INTO LAW. The bill will establish a Higher Education Savings Program, which would support families who wish to save for their children’s post-secondary education.

Research has shown that children from low- and moderate-income families with college savings of $1-$499 are three times more likely to attend college and four times more likely to graduate. Last year, we partnered with Evanston Community Foundation to launch a pilot program providing savings accounts and financial literacy training to six families in our community who saved an average of more than $130 per child over the course of the year. For more information on this exciting new program, see our blog post.

On the Radar...
The No Salary History Act, legislation that would help narrow the wage gap in Illinois, passed the Illinois Senate last week and could be heading to the Governor’s desk for signature soon. Stay tuned through our Facebook page for ways to engage!
