Staff News
We are extremely grateful to our interns this summer. We must bid them goodbye, but we are so very appreciative of the work they performed and the lessons they taught us. Both Lilly and Janefa worked on bringing MSE Detroit's social media presence forward, and both were also recipients of MSE Detroit paid internships. Thank you for sharing your time and talents!
Lilly Swanson is heading back to Michigan State University for her senior year, where she is majoring in Hospitality and Journalism. Her strong work ethic, electric personality, creativity, and social media skills will be sorely missed.
Janefa James has graduated from Upper Iowa University with her degree in Communications. She has gone forward now as the Director of Events for a local charity foundation. With her big heart, they will be the beneficiary of her computer and LinkedIn skills.

How is your summer going? We have been busy with virtual events but also organizing golf outings. How fantastic it has been to be out in the fresh air networking with our colleagues. Events are also being scheduled for this Fall and further out to 2022. Our company Meeting Coordinators, Inc., is not totally right sided, but we are going in the right direction just because we did not give up.
There have been many lessons learned from the COVID pandemic. One of the major lessons for us has been the value of stick-to-itiveness. One of my neighbor's girls came over last week and I put in the video of “Finding Dory." I’m sure most of you are familiar with that movie and its mantra of “Just keep Swimming, Swimming." There are many examples from our childhood that prepared us for tough times...i.e. The Little Engine That Could with “I think I can, I think I can." I’m sure you can relate and can cite other examples. The old saying that "Everything I learned, I learned in kindergarten" seems to be true.
The 2020 Olympics are taking place and you can hear amazing stories of impossibilities that have become remarkable realities. It is interesting to listen to life stories from people that have been told “no” or it is impossible and against all odds they are successful. Many of you know that I come from a large family with 5 brothers and 1 sister. Only one of my siblings went the corporate route (very successfully I may add) but the rest of us became resourceful and prosperous entrepreneurs. We have my parents to thank for drilling into us a strong work ethic and pride in accomplishments. With the exception of my mother, all of us play golf. Last year I was having dinner with one of my brothers who announced that his goal this summer was to break 80 on the golf course again. The last time he consistently golfed in the 70s he was in his 20s. Now he is 60 so everyone chuckled and said good luck with that. He does live in Florida, which gave him many more opportunities to hone his game…but he did it. So never tell anyone “no” unless you want to be proven wrong! COVID has made everyone stronger.
