Dear Family, Friends, and Colleagues,
As many of you know, I have accepted the position of Chancellor of Southern University at New Orleans. As a result, I have tendered my resignation from the Louisiana State Senate, where I have had the honor of representing District 3.
It has been both a privilege and a profound honor to serve this dynamic district, which includes portions of Orleans and St. Bernard Parishes. During my tenure, I’ve had the opportunity to deliver meaningful results to all areas of the district through capital outlay funding and by championing access to quality education for our students.
Along the way, I have met and befriended some of the most remarkable residents of District 3, people whose commitment, resilience, and spirit have inspired me every step of the way.
Serving in the Senate has often felt like a fight, but it was a fight worth taking on because I was fighting for you. As I leave one arena and step into another, my mission remains the same: to advance and protect quality education for our community and for future generations.
I ask that you continue this fight alongside me. Keep standing up for what matters, and above all, vote. Vote like your life depends on it, because in many ways, it truly does.
Yours in the struggle, your friend,
Joe Bouie Jr. Ph.D.
