Discover how Galileo’s fearless work in science, physics, and astronomy, from over four centuries ago, has shaped our modern world, and ultimately paved the way for today’s space travel at our traveling exhibit, Galileo: Scientist, Astronomer, Visionary!  


Even the youngest scientists will have fun exploring Galileo with hands-on experiments and STEAM exploration opportunities that reveal the secrets behind his groundbreaking science to bring his story to life, including:

Women in Science Speaker Series: Fall of the Titans | Nov. 30 | 6:00pm


Throughout most of the 66-million-year history of the Age of Mammals, large animals dominated the Earth. So the question we ask ourselves is, “What caused the sudden disappearance and extinction of these iconic beasts? 🦣

 

To answer the question, we invite you to join Dr. Emily Lindsey, Associate Curator and Excavation Site Director at the La Brea Tar Pits, in exploring the fascinating history and mysterious demise of Earth’s Ice Age giants in the latest installment of our Women in Science speaker series: Fall of the Titans: What became of the world’s Ice Age megafauna and what does it mean for our future?

  • Veterans and their families will enjoy FREE admission to the museum on Saturday, Nov. 11. 
  • Register for Free First Friday (Nov. 3), courtesy of MASCO. Walk-ups are welcome from 10:00am - 5:00pm, however registration is required between the hours of 5:00 - 10:00pm. 
  • Register for Free Third Thursday (Nov. 16), courtesy of the Community Foundation of Southeast Michigan, and enjoy the museum for FREE between 5:00 - 8:00pm. You can also visit the Cranbrook Art Museum for FREE from 11:00am - 8:00pm.
