In celebrating National Philanthropy Day this November, the AFP NEPA Chapter proudly honors the businesses, foundations, individuals, and families who have been there for our nonprofit organizations. "To them we say, sincerely and gratefully, THANKS for giving, generously and sacrificially, even when giving might have been especially tough."
The AFP NEPA Chapter is urging everyone to think about who has made a philanthropic impact during the pandemic and join them in expressing a public "Thank You!" It’s a small but meaningful way to offer public recognition and appreciation to those whose efforts ensure that charitable work carries on throughout this storm.
AFP NEPA invites you to use your personal and organizational social media pages to thank someone for their philanthropic efforts using the hashtag: #NEPAPhilanthropy.

While the process might have felt arduous at times, the following is an example of how hard work, perseverance and public-hearted mindfulness can override all challenges. This is a tremendous opportunity for our region in setting the go-to-standard for what an effective merger can do for the organizations individually and collectively:
"By the unanimous votes of the Boards of Directors and Trustees of the Wilkes-Barre YMCA and the Greater Pittston YMCA are excited to share the twos' intent to merge their organizations.
With the staff at NCAC and NEPA Alliance playing an instrumental role in initial discussions between local YMCAs, what began as a potential opportunity to share resources has grown into a true and lasting partnership. Collaboration between the Greater Pittston YMCA and Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA has been underway for the last 18 months and has already led to substantial improvements in Child Care, Aquatics and Summer Camp Programming. Under a merger, the two organizations will operate as a single legal entity named the Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA.
By serving a larger geographic area, the Y will be able to pursue more significant corporate partnerships and fundraising opportunities - and with their help and generosity - deliver innovative programs to the most vulnerable segments of our population. We are one community – and will soon become one YMCA. We invite you to join us as we celebrate this opportunity to share resources and enhance the YMCA’s impact on Northeastern Pennsylvania."
Kudos to all the work involved in this process; ensuring these two long-standing organizations maintain operations that can fully meet the needs of their respective communities is an action we are so proud of!
Reach out to NCAC today for expert guidance and step-by-step facilitation on assessing the merit of a merger, collaboration or strategic partnership for your organization.

Does Your Organization Have Data That Needs Analyzed?
King’s College Accounting professionals are offering free help to businesses and non-profits starting in January 2021; preference given to smaller, newly-created organizations whose needs most closely fit the scope of the project.
Data Analytics Project
Accounting professionals can help non-profits analyze their donations and expenditures to more efficiently use scarce resources. King’s College Accounting Students will analyze the excel file provided by the community partner and provide a data analysis report by mid-semester (March).
Examples of data analysis may include the following:
-Analysis of donations
-Analysis of expenses.
-Analysis of fundraisers.
-Analysis of net cash flow.
To get started, email a description of your data analysis needs (and an excel file of the data) to Dr. Tara Shawver at tarashawver@kings.edu (570-208-5900 Ext. 5455) by January 1.
