Dear Family Member/Supporter,
Recently, The Arc has experienced a high number of participant absences. We are asking for your help. We want every client to benefit from our programs and reach their full potential. Regular attendance is necessary to achieve these goals.
Additionally, for each day a participant is absent, The Arc does not get funding from the Regional Center. This loss of funding affects how we offer programs and services to our participants. Regular attendance directly supports The Arc’s ability to provide quality services.
Your support can make a difference. As family members and supporters, you have a strong influence on our participants. With your support, we can lower our absentee rate. We ask that you read and help our participants follow our attendance policy:
There is a limit on absences in each six (6) month period beginning March 1 and ending August 30 or beginning September 1 and ending February 28. That does not include regular holidays.
If you go over this limit, you may lose your eligibility for The Arc services, and you may be placed on a waiting list. You may be eligible to hold your space via private payment.
If you are regularly scheduled to participate in Arc services:
-
One (1) day or less, the limit on absences is two (2) days.
-
Two (2) days, the limit on absences is four (4) days.
-
Three (3) days, the limit on absences is six (6) days.
-
Four (4) days, the limit on absences is eight (8) days.
-
Five (5) days, the limit on absences is ten (10) days.
The Arc San Francisco does everything possible to fulfill the objectives of Individual Program Plans (IPP) and to assist clients in reaching their goals. We want to partner with you! Please do your best to help participants follow these guidelines. Our Service Managers are a great resource. Let the Service Manager know if the participant is ill or must be absent for another reason. In some cases, they may be able to help resolve problems. We can work together to make sure we have quality programs for all our participants.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact one of the Lifelong Learning Associate Directors below. Thank you for your understanding and assistance.
Sincerely,
Erin Lyons 415-407-3770
