2024 Stewardship Campaign

The theme of this year’s campaign is our Northmont community and family. We care for one another in so many ways. One of those is with our financial gifts to Northmont to support our staff, who minister to all of us, and to keep our building going as a place for us to worship and be together. During the next few days, you should be receiving a letter about the campaign, along with your commitment/pledge card. Please begin to consider the financial pledge you will make to Northmont for 2024. Rev. Ben Robbins will deliver a Stewardship Sermon on Sunday, October 22. We will present our commitment/pledge cards on Sunday, October 29, 2023. Please mail your commitment /pledge card to the church by October 27, or bring it with you to worship on October 29. Thank you in advance for your continued generosity and care for one another.

Hymn of the Month: October

This month we get a “twofer”: OCTOBER’s HYMN OF THE MONTH is more accurately described as the hymn tune of the month, because we’ll be singing it to two different hymns. Remember that the “hymn” is the words, not the tune. The tune we’ll be exploring is VINEYARD HAVEN. It is set to two wonderful texts in our hymnal, 146, “Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart” and 206, “O Hear Our Cry, O Lord.”

SUNDAY OCTOBER 22

Fellowship Hall

(Right after Sunday Service)

From time to time over the past few years, we have held Town Hall meetings to discuss important topics that pertain to the mission and ministry of Northmont. As we enter into another season of stewardship and discernment, we invite you to do so again.

Please join us as we ask you for your thoughts and feedback on potential areas of focus as we move forward as a congregation.

What should the staff, session, and leadership of the church be focused on as we strive to have the greatest impact on the community?

What areas of spiritual and congregational growth are the most meaningful to you?

Please help us in this important opportunity for discernment.

If you have any questions, please direct them to Pastor Ben

OFFICE REMINDER

As a reminder if you would like to have anything included in the bulletin or Piper the information needs to be given by midnight on  Wednesday. Anything after Wednesday can not be guaranteed to be printed in the upcoming week's bulletin or Piper. Thank you for your assistance.

October is upon us, and with it come cooler weather, fall colors, and also the annual Peacemaking Offering. This collection, also known as the Peace and Global Witness Offering, is one of three PCUSA General Assembly Special Offerings that we collect at Northmont throughout the year. The other two are the Eastertime One Great Hour of Sharing Offering and the Christmas Joy Offering. The Peacemaking Offering is typically collected on World Communion Sunday, which is the first Sunday in October, but contributions can be made throughout October. Generally, 25 percent of the offering is retained by each congregation for their own peacemaking use, 25 percent is used by synods and presbyteries, and 50 percent is used by the General Assembly ministries. Gifts to the Offering enable the church to promote the Peace of Christ by addressing systems of conflict and injustice across the world, and can be made using the designated pledge envelope or marking Peacemaking Offering on a pew envelope. Thank you for your consideration for this offering. – Your Mission Committee
