We're going into a 5th set!

The days are shorter, the nights are longer and the leaves are just beginning to change. That said, we're not done yet! As baseball goes into extra innings, hockey goes into overtime...we're going into a 5th set. How will that 5th set play out? Well, tomorrow we have our AGM, and then we'll have another two to (cross our fingers) four weeks of tennis.

As we acknowledge the season coming to an end its worthwhile to reflect back. Perhaps the anticipation of seeing an old friend on the court after lockdown stands out. Maybe it was being introduced to a new member and the promises of memories to come. Possibly it was the friendly competition of the House League or Club Championships that you'll look back on most fondly. Whatever it was, we hope you enjoyed the season as you will the "5th set" to come.

On behalf of the Board we thank you for your love of tennis and choosing the Credit Valley Tennis Club.

See you on the courts...and see you in 2022!

Belated Congratulations!

In last month's newsletter we highlighted the success of many of our members in various OTA tournaments. We were remiss in not mentioning that at the Credit Valley Tier 1 Championship held at the Club in August:

George Virich, Winner, O45
Dan DeAngelis, Finalist, O45

Congratulations to both Club members on their significant accomplishment!

Special Thanks to:

Petya, our Board members, House League Captains, volunteer grounds keepers, volunteer court maintenance workers, tournament helpers and all those who so meaningfully contributed to the Club in so many different ways. It takes a community to create a great member experience!
Players Past & Present

Hubert Hurkacz

Not many players can say they beat Roger Federer at Wimbledon where he reigned champion eight times. Even fewer can say they won a set against him without even losing a game. Hubert Hurkacz is one of those players. A 24 years old and 6’5" the hard serving player from Poland is currently ranked #12 on the ATP Tour with his career high ranking being 11th obtained in July of 2021. For the last couple of years Hurkacz has been considered one of the up and coming young players that will soon dominate the men's Tour. Always a dangerous opponent his breakthrough came this year at Wimbledon when after defeating Federer, Hurkacz booked his spot in the semi finals where he lost to Mateo Berretini. Most recently he finally won his first ATP Tour event, the Moselle Open where he won the title not only in singles but in doubles as well. It will be very interesting to watch what 2022 will bring for this young player.
