Christian Service in Action
Barbara Pennington, Michael Bell, and Sheri Anderssen are three youth meal ministry volunteers who faithfully provide a meal on Sundays for our teens in youth group and for our elementary age children in the Connect Children’s ministry. The students absolutely love the “Nacho Night” meal, in particular! The adult leaders and students would like to express our sincere appreciation to these individuals for their faithful service to us.
Additional helpers are needed! If you would consider being a youth meal ministry volunteer for one or two Sundays a month, it would be greatly appreciated by all those involved in the teen and children’s ministries.

A Note from the Scholarship Committee
Thank You! – Our scholarship recipients send their gratitude and appreciation. As you read segments of their expressions of gratitude, please consider giving a donation to the scholarship fund through the Birthday Box. Birthday Boxes are located in the Life Center foyer, the foyer of the Sanctuary, and in the church office lobby.
Ella (Hinchman) Mariano – Thank you for the scholarship. Without this help, I would not have been able to go to YWAM (Youth With A Mission). I am forever grateful!
Catalina Mosquera – The scholarship funds I have received from New Life in Christ Church over the past three years have been instrumental in my success at the University of Miami. Words cannot describe how truly grateful I am for the sponsorship from the church and for the opportunities I have been able to take advantage of as a result.

A Word from Worship
Greetings New Life Church family --
The heat continues, but we are blessed to have the 8 o'clock worship service in the air-conditioned sanctuary throughout August. If you were at worship this past Sunday, you were able to try the new and (I think) improved communion cups. The feedback I received was positive ie. "easier to open/bread tastes better" etc.
Don't forget - the next Today Matters service will take place Saturday 8/19 @ 4 pm in the Life Center. Our guest speaker is Holley Harris who will be speaking about AI and Human Trafficking.
It was brought to my attention that a large number of people have been arriving early for the 10:45 am Contemporary Service, which hinders the Praise Band from completing their warm-up in a timely fashion. We are reminding everyone that the doors will open when the Praise group is done rehearsing - usually by 10:20 am. If you arrive early please enjoy a cup of coffee and a doughnut in Fellowship Hall until the Life Center is open. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Don't forget to tune into our radio spot on iHeart Radio on Tuesdays at 11 am or the rebroadcast on Wednesdays at 6 pm WCCF 1580 AM or FM 100.9 New Life Church's spot airs about halfway through the hour program. This is an exciting way that we can share the word of God through the power of prayer and extend an invitation to join our church family. Please help me pray for this opportunity.
Someone recently told me that they felt bad because they didn't have time to pray. I hope we don't think of prayer as a chore- but view it as communication with someone you adore. The Lord says we should delight ourselves in Him! Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart". He wants us to thank Him for being our Savior, our Redeemer, and our friend. We can communicate in silent prayer, in whispers, in spoken words, and in shouts of praise. I believe God wants us to be real with Him - like your best friend. We can talk freely, about any circumstance. It's easy to start by thanking Him for all the good things happening in your life, for our friends and family, and our church. Even when we feel overwhelmed by worldly demands we can trust in Him as Proverbs 3:5 tells us - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." Prayer showed me how to live in the present by beginning each day by connecting with Him by praying: "Thank you Jesus for this precious day of life. Help me stay aware of your presence with me".
This prayer helped me focus on thankfulness rather than worry. Of course, when my mind starts to wander I can return to my old stand-by - "Lord help me". Being thankful increases our gratitude and shows us how blessed we truly are.
I am blessed by this amazing church family and I am praying for all of you!
