A Word from Worship

Greetings New Life Church family and friends -

Here we are, already approaching the end of August.  It is still very hot, schools are open, and teaching staff are filled with hope and anticipation for a productive year of learning and growth in spite of the many challenges they will face. Life is very much like this also.  Just when you think everything is going smoothly with no little bumps in the road, some unexpected situation happens and you question why this would happen. This happened to me this week when I discovered that a new infection in my foot was a cause for daily infusions again. While I was initially frustrated and disappointed, I decided to turn this over to God - since I can't solve these problems anyway! We have to surrender our plans and trust in His plan even when it doesn't look like our own. Our God is just - He is not going to plan something we can't handle. He loves us and He dreams with us. We must let go of the disappointments we feel when our plans don't work out and know that God has our best interests and dreams in mind. Psalm 31:23-24 reminds us - "Love the Lord, all faithful ones. The Lord protects the loyal but fully repays the arrogant.  Be strong  and let your heart be courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord." In Christ, we have a reason for hope. When others ask how I can be strong when facing tough circumstances I can only say that I get my strength from God so all credit and glory go to Him. One of the purposes God has given me is to share encouragement with others. We all can serve in this way by showing kindness to others. Ask God to make you a blessing to someone each day by offering a smile or a hug. Give away your time or talents. It's easy - and the blessings come back to you tenfold.

Please read the weekly Bridge for areas or opportunities for you to serve. It's a great way to meet more of your church family.  Halloween and Thanksgiving are coming up soon and need many helping hands. Have a blessed week!

I'm praying for you!
