A Word from Worship
Greetings New Life Church family --
Happy, hot August! I truly believe that this extreme heat has not only made me physically sluggish, but gave me a lazy attitude about my love of prayer. We all have moments, right? However, in God's loving way, He saved me yet again. It's always our sin that keeps us from praying, or sometimes our busyness. Sometimes we're not sure God is even listening. But God is always waiting for us. He is listening. Whether we're in a quiet prayer room, or on a walk, or sitting in the middle of the busiest space in our home - God is waiting for us. Let His love flow over you. He is waiting. You can come as you are. I've found that I do best when I pray with humility and ask God for His mercy. I know it's too easy to slip back into old habits when we're being challenged by hurtful things and we feel like nothing is changing. I'm learning that part of praying when we want to quit is bringing all of who we are to Christ and not giving up. It's hard to imagine that there is nothing about us that He doesn't know and yet His love for us always
surrounds us. If we doubt that love, I believe we hold back in prayer. We must persist in prayer no matter how hard it is or how long it takes to get an answer. We must pray with boldness and not give up. I read once that we must;
* Pray hardest when it's hardest to pray.
* Pray like Jesus, brutally honest and completely vulnerable.
* Pray for God's will to be done.
I know each person has their own pain in life. As you know, mine is physical with new challenges all the time. But rather than give in and back down in the midst of our struggles, we can stand up and pray through our pain. Ask the Holy Father to use your pain to make something beautiful in the lives of others. I've been given such joy as God has led me to begin a prayer group, and write a weekly Bridge article which has developed into two editions of yearly articles in booklet form. Most recently, I was invited to record a group of weekly devotionals on iHeart Radio. As my physical ability has lessened, God has turned my pain into things I could never do on my own. You can't imagine what God has waiting for you!
Upcoming events for the fall/winter season are being planned. Please watch the announcements and The Bridge for serving opportunities! We need your help!
I'm praying for you!
