GriefShare - Beginning January 3

|
Help and encouragement after the death of a spouse, child, family member or friend.
The care you need. Information you can trust.
After the funeral, when the cards and flowers have stopped coming, most of the people around you return to their normal lives. But your grief continues and you feel alone.
Often, friends and family want to help you, but don’t know how. That’s the reason for GriefShare. Our group is led by caring people who have experienced grief, and have successfully rebuilt their lives. We understand how you feel because we’ve been in the same place. We will walk with you on the long path through grief toward healing and hope for the future.
Our 2023 GriefShare groups will be starting January 3 at 6:30 pm OR January 4 at 10:00 am in Room 13. With video seminars, support group discussions and personal study and reflection, GriefShare provides help for you along the journey to healing. We meet for 13 weeks.
If you are grieving the death of a loved one or know someone who is, no matter
how long it’s been, please share this information about our 13-week GriefShare support group. Reservations are needed to join these groups.

Wednesday Morning Bible Study - January 4
|
|
THE BACKSTORY - Beginning in 2023 Pastor Earl will be offering a new Bible study on Wednesday mornings. He wants to tackle this idea - What is the backstory behind many of the stories and people of the New Testament. For example, we'll hope to look at such things as - Who was John Mark and why did he become important to the apostle Paul? Why did Paul write that WOMEN should be quiet and not speak up in church? What does it mean to be a slave to Christ? What is meant by the statements that Christ lives in you? How did James, the brother of Jesus go from being a non-believer to a leader of the early church? What happened to the Apostles? What happened to Paul during all those years between his salvation and missionary years? Was Jesus ever sad, mad, angry, or scared? Did Jesus always know everything or was he as clueless as we are sometimes? So, if you might be interested in that type of a study join Earl January 4 in Lenox Hall at 9:30. And invite a friend to come with you!

Harmony Class, New Study - January 8
|
|
Sunday, January 8, 2023, The Harmony Bible Class will begin a new 8-session study by Andy Stanley called, “Follow,” in Lenox Hall beginning at 10:15 am. Religion says, “Change and you can join us.” Jesus says, “Join us and you will change.” There is a huge difference. His invitation is an invitation to relationship, and it begins with a simple request: follow me. Andy Stanley takes us through the Gospels as he traces Jesus’ teaching on what it means to follow. Prepare for your eyes to open, your feet to move, and your faith to be radically transformed. If you were waiting for an invitation to Follow in His Footsteps – this is it. Jesus says “follow.” All are welcome to join us for this fascinating journey!

Greetings New Life Church family and friends -
Well the overwhelming topic of conversation around the church campus among staff is "I can't believe Christmas is in only a few days "! But, whether we feel ready or not, several hundred servings of communion are ready, as are candles for the traditional services. The musicians have been rehearsing, custodians have been cleaning the facility, our Pastors have been preparing their message for us and we all have been praying for various things; mainly to celebrate the birth of the beautiful baby who came to earth to save us. I know only too well that most of us know someone or who are themselves facing difficult situations. We are praying earnestly for Pastor Mike and Debbie's new grandson, Aslan and their entire family, as they navigate his medical situation. I am inspired that this sweet, innocent baby is showing me much about strength. Please continue to keep them in your prayers. I have friends who have lost loved ones and are struggling to feel merry. I myself have learned of a couple of unexpected situations recently. The long standing post-op infection in my foot that we thought was healed flared up with a vengeance after stopping the antibiotics for a week. I am now awaiting an appointment with infectious disease physicians for more intensive IV therapy for several weeks. Some of you may know that Dr. Browne at FL Cancer Clinic has been taking care of me for years for a blood disorder that I have. On routine examination last week she discovered a "fairly large" mass in my abdominal area. I will have scans next weet to begin evaluation. Of course I will appreciate prayer. I told our pastors that my goal is not to keep this church praying! All of these unexpected things prompt me to go back to one of my favorite scriptures;
Philippians 4:6 "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything." First pray, then do. Four little words that can change the course of our day. I wish I could say I follow this without fail. Don't worry- just pray. I read something once that said worries are wasted opportunities to trust God. I now try to let all my cares become prayers instead. We are blessed by this church family who share stories of Scripture to help build our faith and also share stories of answered prayers. Keep presenting your requests to God because He is listening. Even if the answer might be different than expected, share it with others. Join one of the prayer groups and hear these stories of answered prayer from others.
Anyone who is planning to help with any of the Christmas Eve services please check in with me 30 minutes prior to service start times. You will be wonderfully blessed for your service. The morning services at the Park at 12 and 3pm will be chilly (okay cold!) so dress warm!
I am so grateful to each of you who have encouraged me or prayed for me. You continue to bless me beyond belief. I pray that your Christmas is filled with love and peace. I am praying for you!

Worship Coordinator
