A Word from Worship

Greetings New Life Family and Friends,

My question today is: how can January be half over already? Am I the only one who sometimes feels like I'm spinning my wheels and getting nowhere? Honestly, for a period of my life I did feel like that. It was so frustrating for me but I couldn't seem to make any progress. I had a great nursing job and a wonderful family and yet I felt like something big was missing. That was many years ago when serious medical problems were hitting me from all sides. I had great doctors who made sure I had only the best of treatments and surgeons and yet I felt like I had little hope. I had a lot of reasons to get better and until my sister in law's pastor talked to me about prayer i didn't really have hope. I beg to read scripture like: Colosssians 3:23 - "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."  I soon was aware that no matter how discouraged we may feel because of the worries of our daily challenges or a lack of appreciation for hard work, we should never forget that Jesus is always with us. If we are ever tempted to give up, we need only to turn to our Savior with our needs. When we stay close to the Lord, and put all our trust in Him, He will give us inspiration to keep doing our best in spite of any obstacles. I have shared much of my medical history in the past and before I developed and expanded my prayer practice it would have been easy to have an attitude of hopelessness. Now, even though I continue to have health issues which result in new and sometimes greater problems, I know I am never alone. Romans 12:12 tells us "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." When you develop a positive prayer life I've found that you can't help but sharing about it with others. What a wonderful blessing to have the privilege of being in a close and loving relationship with God personally through prayer. As you know, we have been going through a challenging journey with cancer for both Don and me since May and have been blessed by God's grace and love through the power of prayer, not only by us but all of you who have been praying for us. Here's our latest update: Don continues to feel well, though tired. Prayer has given him hope and we give glory to God each and every day. He remains off Hospice care. I had a biopsy last week of the lesion in my abdominal area and praise God that there is no malignancy. However, what they found is that there is suture (stitches) material from a long ago surgery that was left and never dissolved. It has caused the tissue in that area to grow around it as a foreign body and is now causing serious issues. So next step is a referral to a surgeon. I will again ask for prayer help from you but I know the Lord has this. I will keep you posted! Thank you for your love, the meals, gift cards, and of course your prayers.

I'm praying for you!
