Please Pray for our Youth Summer Mission Team
|
|
A team of 11 students and leaders will be traveling to minister in Tennessee from July 15th - 22nd. They will sleep on air mattresses in a church basement, fix their own meals, do physical labor primarily outside, and even "shower" outside after their hard work is completed each evening. Pray for these teens as they serve God on behalf of New Life in Christ Church.

Greetings New Life family--
Hard to believe that July is half over already. It seems like this time of summer is quiet and trying to encourage me to clean out my office, and do a major cleaning of my house ‐ neither sounds very exciting to me. In trying to motivate me, I pull out books, devotionals, and my Bible for ideas to do better, and be better when I get in these slumps. As happens frequently, the first article I opened was titled "One Step At A Time ". While it wasn't about cleaning (thank goodness), it was an article about how God doesn't expect us to be perfect. This is great news because I make mistakes and feel discouraged and unsure at times. This story was about Zacchaeus, who was the chief tax collector and was very rich. He was known as a sinner but took a bold step to see Jesus. The story in Luke tells how he climbed up into a sycamore tree to get a glimpse of Jesus over the crowds of people. As he passed by, Jesus looked up, called Zacchaeus down, and said "Come, I must be a guest in your home." Because he took that brave step to be close to Jesus it shows us that God's love and teachings are for everyone, including outcasts and sinners. I don't need to climb a tree, but when I am discouraged, I can do something out of the ordinary to get one step closer to Jesus. Some ideas; Ask the Holy Spirit to prompt me during the day to pray; go for a walk and pray out loud asking God how I can draw closer to Him; write a letter to God with requests and praise; ask a Christian friend or family member to share their testimony with you.
Here is the prayer included with this story:
Lord, thank You for the reminder of Your life and faithfulness through the story of Zacchaeus. Please open my eyes today to how You are working in my life. Help me to be bold today in taking one step closer to You. Thank You that I do not have to be perfect in this life. I only have to rely on You. Holy Spirit, be near me as I look for ways to draw closer to You. Amen.
Don't forget to wear your name tags. New ones are being ordered but please be patient during this process. You can order one online or there will be a notepad available at the main entrance also. Have a blessed week.
I'm praying for you!

If it is or has been raining, Praise in the Park will relocate to our historic Sanctuary. Time may not always be sufficient to get the word out, so in case of inclement weather, please proceed to the Sanctuary.
