Blessing of the Backpacks

Last Sunday we celebrated our students with the "Blessing of the Backpacks." We dedicated time to pray over the children as they prepare for the upcoming academic year, and filled their backpacks with school supplies. Thank you to all who donated school supplies to make the Blessing of the Backpacks a success!

Text Scam Alert

It has come to our attention that recently some texts have been received "appearing" to come from Pastor Casey, asking for a response (purchasing gift cards) from the recipient. Pastor Casey has NOT sent these texts - please do not respond to them, as they are a SCAM.

If you have any questions about a message you receive and are unsure, please call the office, and we will confirm whether it is legitimate or not.

Taguasco Construction Update

Tom Little

Cuba Supporters,

When we bought the sanctuary house for our sister church in Taguasco, the whole roof and rafters had to be replaced. We had only funding for the rafters and a simple tin roof. Now after six years we have funded a cement roof which will be waterproof and hurricane resistant. Getting the materials has taken six months. The pouring began today. The cement is mixed manually and carried to the roof one bucket at a time. All the labor comes from church members. After it cures for a month, the wooden supports will come down and the sanctuary can be made ready for worship. In the meantime, the church is worshiping in the large shed adjoining the house next door we bought last year.

Thank you for your continuing support. We can see real results in Cuba.

A Word from Worship

Greetings New Life Church family and friends,

It is now a very hot and very wet summer season. My front yard is a lake but considering what so many other places are suffering, we are blessed.  When I consider that every day is a beautiful gift from God, not being able to walk through it to go across the street to my mailbox is a small thing. I've been reminded recently that even though life has been more challenging than usual, I continue to be blessed in so many ways. I had an incident this past week that reminded me why I need prayer in my life. I was talking with someone close to me who I love very much. And as usual they were complaining about everything, and I found myself complaining about the conversation with someone else. Wow! That was a wake-up call for me. Needless to say, I am grateful we have a loving God who is willing to comfort and strengthen us, giving us mercy and grace in our times of need. Hebrews 4:16 describes this privilege with these words: "Let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." This is the wonderful honor we have through our gift of prayer. How awesome it is to know that the Creator of heaven and earth is available to help us when we need it. I've certainly had to face more painful situations than this, but as Jeremiah 33:3 promises - "Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know." He's been described as a constant Helper, a faithful Friend, a wise Leader, and great Redeemer to us. We can experience this by using the gift of prayer every day of our life. If you're just getting started in your prayer life, or want to grow deeper, consider joining a prayer group or getting a prayer

partner when you need help or could help others.  Don't forget to pray about ways you can serve at New Life Church. There are many volunteer opportunities that can use help.

I'm praying for you!
