A Word from Worship
Greetings New Life Church family and friends,
I must first say that I'm in a state of shock. We began this current health crisis the end of April and here we are in mid July, and life seems like a blur. Next, I want to apologize for no article last week. We had a difficult week with Don experiencing a series of complicated symptoms which resulted in lengthy ER visits, urgent appointments and IV medications and very little sleep, especially for me. Doctors were unable to identify if these complications were side effects of chemo or an infection somewhere in his body that had not yet shown up on numerous lab tests. More than a few people have commented that if some type of puzzling medical issue is going to happen it would happen to one of us!. Dr. Browne decided to treat him for an undisclosed infection and hold the oral chemo drugs while on antibiotics for the past week. I am happy and grateful to say that the troubling complications have stopped entirely. We have a follow-up appointment with her on this Friday and will see the treatment plan from here. We have been flooding our Lord with prayers of praise for these precious days of seemingly better health. I can't thank you enough for your prayers. I confess that I have been struggling while trying to be a good caregiver and deal with my own health issues. I have learned how important it is to reach.out to each other when we know someone is lonely, sick, or any other situation that knocks us down in.life. Some of us have trouble asking others for help but I know we have many in our church family who could use a sweet smile or hug - and always extra prayers. Don't ever be afraid to ask if you can pray for someone. Going through stressful situations like we are has reminded me that pain is not unique to only one situation because hurt is hurt and loss of any kind is loss. The past two months have been filled with so much grief and disappointment that you can't help but be exhausted by it. Through scripture and prayer, I try to keep my perspective and belief that the Lord will provide, but there are moments when holding onto hope us not easy. As I read devotionals with Don and read our Bible I'm marking a "P" in the margin every time I read that Jesus prayed. This helps to encourage me to keep praying as Jesus taught his disciples to do. The one thing I pray for at this time is hope, to avoid getting discouraged.
Romans 15:13 "I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."
If you're not yet a member of a prayer team and would like to pray for others in the comfort of your home, please contact me for more information. It's easy to be part of this important ministry.
