Christmas in July

Our New Life Youth Group had a blast last Sunday celebrating with games, snacks, and summertime holiday cheer. Big thanks to our volunteer gift wrappers who made this event so much fun!

Halloween Outreach Planning

Halloween is a big deal in Punta Gorda. This year promises a big celebration since it falls on a Friday! Given our location, we have a unique opportunity to welcome our neighbors as thousands come to downtown.

But this big of an outreach opportunity is a TEAM EFFORT!

If you're interested in planning this event and being part of this year's Halloween Outreach Team, please contact Pastor Casey casey@newlifeforall.church.

The Christian Foundation of America's Political Philosophy

One of our Church members, Peter Bell, is going to be teaching a free adult education class at Southwest Florida Bible Institute (SWFBI) titled "The Christian Foundation of America's Political Philosophy " starting Tuesday, August 12th, at 7:00 pm. The course content traces the history of the biblical concept of freedom in daily living from the Garden of Eden through the American Revolutionary period and up to today. The class meets Tuesdays for 18 weeks at the SWFBI campus located just south of the intersection of Toledo Blade and Highway 41. To register for the class go to the SWFBI website and follow the registration instructions on the site.

Each week in The Bridge, we’ll be sharing a few Glory on the Go submissions. Keep them coming! It’s such a blessing to celebrate these stories and stay connected throughout the summer.

In addition to sending them to us, consider posting your story on your personal Facebook or Instagram. Be sure to tag the church and include #gloryonthego.

It’s one more way to show how God is moving through New Life Church—on the go!

On Father's Day, Hezzie and I were joining our family for the baptism of our twin 7 y.o. great grandsons at their brand new church facility in Richmond, KY.

As we were waiting before service in the lobby, the twins approached their Papaw Hezzie with a question. "Would he baptize them?"

That question shocked Papaw Hezzie, even though he had assisted with other folks being baptized when we lived in TN. He never dreamed of baptizing these precious boys. But he quickly recovered and agreed to baptize them.

So, the greatest honor was bestowed on Papaw Hezzie when he asked each of these boys about their belief and love of Jesus Christ and they answered in the affirmative.

It will be a Father's Day that neither of us will ever forget. And we give God ALL the glory!

We have spent the past two weeks in the little town of Laingsburg, Michigan. Today we had a chance to spend some time with our oldest son Todd and his wife Katie. God has given them 28 years of loving marriage and helped them grow this huge vegetable garden for 20 years. In this picture you see the beautiful Japanese Maple tree that He gave them as a sapling when they first planted the garden.

A Word from Worship

Greetings New Life Church family and friends,

I can't even compute that August is a few days away. It does remind me to enjoy and appreciate every day, but I still let the days pass by at times and not treat each one as the gift that it is. I was thinking about writing something to share with you and couldn't think of a thing. That's clearly because I was trying to share a message from me and hadn't prayed and listened to His voice. I prayed and began looking through some books of scripture and was led to some notes from a few years ago when I was asked to share my testimony at Today Matters. It's interesting to glance through that record of life events and remember things as they've occurred. Several people have questioned me over the years when they hear about my numerous health crises, beginning with a near drowning as a pre-teen and several surgical attempts at spine reconstructions to correct severe scoliosis. A few folks (non-believers) have questioned my faith, thinking I should be angry at God. I share my firm belief with them that easily could have drowned at age11. While I've gone through numerous surgeries and many complications over the years I feel so blessed for the gifts I've received. I have felt Him with me every moment, no matter where I am or what I'm going through.

Luke 1:37 affirms "Nothing will be impossible with God." I've lived and learned that no matter how complicated, confusing or overwhelming the trials we face, the Lord is greater and can lead us to victory. Sometimes it's our doubts and feelings that we're not worthy of His love that hold us back. God's great gift of prayer has helped me lose any anxiety that He truly cares about me. He has helped me repeatedly as a life of health issues and problems have arisen and I know He's always there for me. And, He's there for you too. How wonderful to realize that where earthly help will often fail us, God absolutely never will. I'd love everyone to understand that love and I can only encourage you to read His Word and pray. Not as a chore but as a way to know Him better. I encourage you to get connected to a prayer group and also find a ministry area where you can serve.

I'm currently asking for volunteer help as a greeter or usher on Sundays. Anyone can do this. It's a great way to meet people, and it's not a big time commitment. You need only a smile and "welcome." Please contact me for more info or to get started. I'm also looking for help with communion once monthly beginning in August. Call me for info. Life can be filled with blessings and God moments if we welcome Him in. Keep on praying!

I'm praying for you!
