Our zoo trip was a success! There were about 50 of us in attendance. “Kids” of all ages joined us for our adventure, with our youngest being 14th months and our oldest being in his 70s. I told you, kids of ALL ages!
We met at Naples Zoo at 9:00 am “before it got hot.” I guess that is a relative term. It was already quite warm outside upon our arrival. Our first stop was the “Primate Boat Tour.” There were so many of us, that we had to split up on two boats! It was a lovely trip around the small pond at the zoo. We learned about the difference between apes, monkeys, and lemurs. We saw apes showing off how loud they could be, lemurs chasing each other, sleeping monkeys and another, very territorial ape.
After the boat tour, we all dispersed to travel around the zoo. Everyone wanted to see different animals. As we traveled, we saw lions and tigers and bears, oh my! There were also alligators, tortoises, birds, and a sloth! Some of us also took the opportunity to feed the giraffe…long, blue tongues that feel like sandpaper on the skin…
At 11:30 am, we met at Roar Cafe for lunch as a complete group. If you feed them, they will come. By the time we all made it to Roar Cafe, everyone was hot and hungry. We ate our hot dogs and fellowshipped for quite a while. I had the opportunity to stop and speak with every family that joined us. It was great to meet some new families and get to know church families better. I had the opportunities to hear about family needs and how the church and family ministry can come alongside them.
After lunch, most of our zoo crew headed home. A few of us stayed a little longer, leaving just as the rain started in Naples. The feedback I have received has been phenomenal. Everyone had a really nice time with their families at the zoo. It was just very HOT! (Note to self: Florida summer is not like Massachusetts summer, zoo to be reserved for winter activity….indoor activities in summer).
Grace & Peace, Becca

Another Successful Teen Mission Trip!
|
|
Our youth missions team has returned from eight days of service in Tennessee. We are so proud of the amazing job each student did while serving at four different sites in and around Nashville. Bonnie Fowler led a group who served at a ranch called Freedom Reigns where they provide equine-assisted counseling. Her team cleaned horse stalls (oh what fun...). They also did a lot of scraping, sanding and painting in the stables along with other physical tasks. Pastor Tim led a group of six teens who helped at an inner-city mission day-camp program for 60 children. All of these children live below the property line. One day they chaperoned a trip up into the mountains to allow these city kids the opportunity to go on a creek walk to explore God’s amazing creation. The other days the students at the day camp followed a schedule of daily crafts, culinary time making lunches, structured physical education, free play, tutoring, and Pastor Tim lead the 30-minute Bible lesson. He told these precious children Bible stories that most of the kids never had the opportunity to hear before. The rest of our teens served alongside a group of teens from Oklahoma at two additional worksites. One was with children with Down syndrome who are some of the happiest kids on earth! They also helped on a farm that houses foster children. Along with playing with the foster children, they created a play to celebrate a boy's birthday. They also learned how to make butter and prepare other foods (like goat cheese) from the farm that the Forster parents took to a local farmer's market. We want to thank everyone for their support and prayers while we were serving in Tennessee.

Happy Friday New Life Church family -
The hot weather continues and things have appeared quiet around campus, but actually exciting things have been happening. Pastor Angela and her family have been getting settled in their new home and here at church. If you haven't had a chance to meet her yet, please introduce yourself to her when you have an opportunity. Tim and his youth group recently returned from a week long mission trip to Nashville where they worked hard and touched the lives of people they met. You'll be able to hear some of their testimonies soon. To hear these amazing stories of faith from these young people is always very uplifting. And Becca has taken her Children's ministry families on a couple of outings recently; the most recent being a trip to the zoo! Prayers of thanks for these leaders and volunteers who share their love of Christ with our young believers. Can I just say what a wonderful church family we have!
The church office has been working very hard to organize the very lengthy lists of names so every person at New Life Church can get a new name tag. They will be available soon. We plan to have them at each service for you to pick up as soon as they are ready. Watch The Bridge for information, and thank you for your patience during these projects.
We have been talking a lot about prayer in the past couple years and my life is certainly a testimony that prayer works. Books that document evidence of the wonders of prayer tell us that:
* Prayer is so important that the Bible mentions it 512 times.
* Prayer is so important that Jesus did nothing without it.
* Prayer is so important that it's a command in the Ancient Scriptures.⁰
Pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. -1Thessalonians 5:16
The Bible also talks about Partnered Prayer:
When two or three are gathered in my name I am there among them. Matthew 18
Those of us who are blessed to have a spouse or partner have an opportunity to pray together, which is both scary and beautiful. Don and I began this journey over a year ago after Pastor talked about it in a meeting. We had never prayed out loud together before. It began when I asked him to sit with me while I prayed..the scary part is it feels very vulnerable at first but the beautiful part is it made incredible changes in our relationship. I also have another faithful prayer partner and of course have a prayer group who gathers together in the sanctuary every Thursday to share prayer and encourage each other. We'll talk more about the power of partnered prayer next week but feel free to join us for prayer this Thursday at noon.
I'm praying for you!

Extraordinary Women - Begins August 18
|
|
Extraordinary Women is a Zoom Women’s Bible Study Group which meets every Thursday from 9:00-11:00 am. Brenda Allen is the group facilitator. EW Zoom is for all
women who enjoy learning about the Bible and how it applies to their life.
If you find it difficult or impossible to come to the church for a small group meeting, please consider joining us on Zoom. We have members who are out of town for the summer and want to stay connected to a small group. If you are the caregiver for someone who can’t be left alone our group may be the perfect way for you to participate in a small group. Do you like to stay at home and dress casually (that means shorts and no makeup)? EW Zoom is the group for you.
We are a very welcoming group, so please come and visit us. We are currently using the
Journey Through the Bible series and are presently studying Acts. We will start our study
of Romans on August 18. If you would like a book please contact Jan Armbrust at 941-
268-5967 or Sharon Voss at 941-639-1506. Contact Brenda Allen for the Zoom link at
941-286-2244.
