A Word from Worship

Greetings New Life Church family and friends,

Happy June! I've been home from our week in Marathon in the Keys for four days and I feel like I'm still recovering!. I need to acknowledge what a beautiful blessing it was for my family to include me in their annual vacation. What a gift. I have to admit that I'm not easy to take along. With all my many medical issues I need to drag additional equipment and supplies along- but it all worked out just fine. The beautiful house that we stayed in had two flights of stairs- or 18 steps every time I went outside or back in. I'm happy to report I did just fine with that challenge. Of course I'll share that I got some extra prayers in while thanking God for my success and no falls! It was a wonderful time of spending extra closeness with family; my son and daughter in law, Chris and Carmen; granddaughters Abby and Haley and Haley's husband Nik; and great granddaughter Marley and great grandson Archer. What sweet blessing. After being alone for these past months it was a true gift to share laughter with others. Amazingly we all felt Don all around thanks to 18 month old Archer. He had one of Papa Don's memorial cards with his picture. He carried that card around and each morning when I came out into the living room he'd bring that picture card to me to kiss Papa good morning. Every night before he went to bed he'd bring that card around to each of us to kiss Papa Don good night. That was truly a glory gift for us. Of course, you cannot sit on the beach at the ocean and not thank Him for one of His glorious masterpieces. To look out at the beautiful endless expanse of blue and green water is a reminder of God's great glory.  It was a wonderful week but it's taken me awhile to recover from long car rides, extra activities and foods. But everyone else tell me they're in recovery mode also. I am so grateful to have family around me , including my church family and friends.  You can't imagine how I've missed being at church these past months when I've been sick. I'm happy to be back as much as I can. I've had lots of time to catch up on reading and study and it's reminded me how important it is to surround ourselves with people who follow the example Christ set for us. When we spend a great deal of time with people, our tendency is to begin to act like they do. This is why we need to choose our friends wisely, and why we need to follow the examples of Christ. Our lives get busy with jobs, children, and other things of this world. None of these things are wrong, in fact they are wonderful. But I think God wants us to remember the prize of our eternal life in heaven. I love life, as difficult as it is sometimes. But I remind myself to ask God to help me to keep my eyes on Him as I go about things of the world. A week at the ocean is a perfect reminder!

Please continue to pray for our church, and for people who are hurting.

Please contact me if you are able to help greet at worship on Sundays.

I look forward to talking with you! I'm praying for you!
