On Sunday, March 13 after the 9:15 service and after the 11:00 service, the Crafters Group will have a display in Lenox Hall of some of the projects we've been working on. Come by and check it out!

Our group meets every Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 - 3:30. All supplies are provided by donations. If you are interested in joining us, just bring yourself. You could just come and socialize with this lovely group of people, you don't have to have any particular talent.

Playground Mulch - Help Needed
Our playground will be getting fresh layer of mulch, and volunteers are needed to help spread it!! The date has not yet been determined for the mulch delivery, but if you are willing and able to help, please contact Joey DePetro: joey.depetro@whatis1st.com, 941-639-3842. Thank you in advance!
Endowment Team Grants
The Endowment Team will accept grant requests during the month of March from individuals or groups. The grants are intended to be a one time supplemental funding for "extras" beyond the regular budget. The original donors (two families in the 1990's) set up an Endowment Fund with a covenant that allows funds to be granted to specific areas of the First United Methodist Church programs. The grants are funded by a portion of the profits earned each year. The core is always maintained to have the fund be perpetually sound. In addition, 10% of it's profits are applied to the core each year. The Endowment Fund tithes too!

Please include a brief description of your program idea/ activity/ or materials you would like the Endowment Team to fund. Include goals, costs, and anticipated impact your plan will make on the participants, our church, and community. Requests must be received in the church office by March 31, 2022.

It will be necessary for you to be present at the Endowment team meeting in April to explain your proposal to the team and answer any questions regarding your request. Contact Phil Huddleston (941-258-4540) philhuddleston@embarqmail.com for details and procedures before you apply.

Recent grants: New Choir Robes, Youth Mission trips supplement, Children's Ministry special activities, UV and air filtration system to protect us from viruses throughout the campus.

What about your legacy to the church and community? Including the Endowment Fund in your estate planning will insure your gift will live on and touch lives for Christ.

A Word from Worship
Greetings 1st Church friends--

I want to begin today by asking for help! Don't worry-- it's nothing too difficult.  I'm not sure if you've heard about my newest challenge for all of us, but I am asking everyone to take a moment each day at noon to pause what ever you're doing, and say the Lord's Prayer. Set your watch alarm, or whatever reminder you can use, to pray. Lent is a special time of prayer focus, and this year especially, with a war raging in Ukraine, we have an urgent need to join together in spirit and pray. Tell your family and friends to join us as well, and let's experience the power of prayer.

I'm also asking for your help for our special services on Maundy Thursday; 4/14/22 @ 7pm, and Easter Sunday worship services. Duties could include welcoming (greeting) folks as they arrive; collection of the offering; or distribution of communion as people arrive. None of these responsibilities are difficult, and the blessings are big. Please let me know if you can help at one or more of the upcoming services.

Remember that we are again offering purchase of altar flowers in memory or to honor your loved ones. Contact me at the email address below with any questions or to sign up.

I have mentioned several areas asking for help, but I believe God gives us an opportunity for purpose each day. There are days where life seems upbeat and others where we feel defeated. But I've found that each type of day teaches a lesson, and allows us to grow closer to our heavenly Father. No matter if it's a great day or a day of heartbreak, I try to examine what God is trying to teach me. It's up to me to choose to learn or choose to remain ignorant of that lesson. For me, that involves prayer and reading God's word. I'm learning to enjoy appreciation during times of rest, and bravery when having days of pain or hardship. Somehow He always supplies a lesson, and my prayer is to recognize that purpose. Our God is an awesome God! If you are interested, I still have some of my weekly devotional books available.

I'm praying for you!
