Our most important ministry outside our campus is to the youth of Charlotte County. A partner in that ministry is Young Life at the high schools and Wyld Life in the middle schools. We have to go where the teens are because they are not yet at church. Each year the teens hold
a GALA to celebrate those who have come to Christ that year and to let the teens see that we support them. At church services on Sunday, March 26, we will hear from Jennifer Candia who started out at Charlotte High School and now runs Young Life in Charlotte County. Cody Workman who replaced Jennifer at Charlotte High and PG Middle School will tell of his ministry there. You are invited to celebrate Young Life at the GALA on Monday, April 3, at 6 pm at Holy Trinity Banquet Hall on Rampart in Port Charlotte. There is no charge for this banquet and the great entertainment which it includes.
To fill up our tables and to sign up contact Peter Gillen 941-661-8367 or Tom Little 941-769-0002.

A Mother's Prayer of Hope
|
|
Today a mother reaches into a cupboard and opens two cans of food. How can she feed her family? Rising prices of food, still facing damages from Hurricane Ian, a lost job or low pay, children looking at her expectantly. She stops. She prays for a miracle. Deep inside, she trusts God to supply her needs.
A church prays “How can we help those less fortunate?” And God leads us - one can of food at a time. Or one bag of food. A box of food. We will stock the shelves of the Salvation Army food pantry. We can be an answer to a mother’s prayer!
Dates: April 9 - May 14, 2023
Timing: We will collect food from Easter through Mother’s Day!
Where: Collection boxes will be in Lenox Hall, labeled “A Mother’s Prayer of Hope”
How can you help?
- Shop each week and bring items to collection boxes at church
- Pray for the items as you place them in the boxes
- Give a cash donation. We’ll be glad to shop for you! Earmark donation “A Mother’s Prayer of Hope”
- Pray for the families that we will help.
- Volunteer to help collect boxes of food and move them to the storage area
- Call Chris Wilkens to volunteer! 941-276-4416
Sunday, May 14 - Mothers’ Day! This is the day that the Lord has made! We will rejoice and be glad in it! Everyone brings food for the collection boxes!
Monday, May 15: Deliver to the Salvation Army! We will need a few volunteers to load and
transport food to Salvation Army!

Greetings New Life Church family -
Can you believe we're entering Holy Week? Seems like the garland and poinsettias just got packed away (don't worry the flowers are silk) and it's time to get the palms out for Palm Sunday worship. I somehow have felt more aware this Lenten season than ever before. To really think about that beautiful old hymn by George Bennard
(1913) "The Old Rugged Cross" - I can visualize an old wooden cross and try to imagine the suffering and shame that our Savior went through. He endured that terrible cross and suffers with us and for us.
We will be having a special Holy Thursday service at 7 pm in the sanctuary on April 6th. As Jesus prepared for the cross, He wanted to give the apostles a way to remember Him, so He gave them and us the gift of the Lord's Supper. At our service we will remember this by partaking of these elements as a visual reminder of all He has given us. On Friday, April 7th at 12 noon we will have a traditional Good Friday service, also in the sanctuary, planned by the Men of Faith group. This is always a moving service as we take the opportunity to thank and remember Christ on the cross. I read that we shouldn't be afraid to think about His sorrow and anguish because this was His gift to us. When I read about and pray about what our Savior went through to save us, I am filled with a feeling of hope that's hard to explain. Just imagine -- Jesus takes our brokenness and makes it beautiful. When our lives seem in pieces, He takes them and gives us peace. He knows us by name and removes our shame. Through our prayer life, I believe that the more we reach out to Him, the more we want Him. Jesus is everything and is more than enough for anything we have to face. I call out to Him on sleepless nights, when facing new medical problems or any time I feel afraid. I am grateful that He knows each of us by name!
FYI: I need volunteer help for Holy Thursday 4/6 @ 7 pm.
