We wanted to share a change for our worship schedule this summer. We will not have an 8 am service during the months of July and August, only our 9:15 and 10:45 services.

Our 8 am worship service will return to the Sanctuary in September, and to Gilchrist Park in October!

FREE Greeting Cards Available

We now have free greeting cards available in the church office for those of you who visit shut-ins or patients in the hospital or nursing homes. These cards are created and donated by our Crafters for Christ ladies.

We welcome anyone who would like to help create these cards (no experience needed). Our group meets every Wednesday 12:30-4:00 pm in Lenox Hall. Come for an hour or come the whole time. A great way to meet new people!

A Word from Worship

Greetings New Life Church family and friends,

To say it's been a tough week would be an understatement. It began with the realization that I was entering week 4 of this miserable influenza. This also means Don is going into week 3 and I don't know which is worse! It's hard to feel downright crummy while trying to take care of others. Then came the devastating news that my dear friend and prayer partner was no longer with us. So, after much prayer and admittedly more than a few pity parties, I'd like to share a few thoughts. I know I'm not the only one who has moaned and groaned that life isn't always fair. It's easy to feel bitter when life seems unjust, even if it's more annoying than serious. Sometimes problems seem to pile up - one problem on top of another. Because of my other chronic health issues, I was prescribed strong doses of steroids as well as other necessary drugs that each caused terrible side effects, the worst one being bouts of uncontrollable crying. You know those hysterical type crying jags where you look in the mirror and think" who are you?" Sometimes we just need to get those tears out. Face it, we all deserve a meltdown once in awhile. Besides, who created all these tears? Remember, the Bible says that even Jesus wept. What I've learned through my prayer journey is that it's okay to have these pity moments of time when life seems overwhelming but not to get stuck there. Call on a friend to help you if you need; go for a walk, invite them over for coffee or better yet, spend a little quiet time together with God in prayer. We'll always feel better and even a little stronger when we turn to God and do our best to make the necessary changes to live life with hope and joy. I know I will always have challenges to face but I am blessed to know that I am never alone because our Savior has surrounded me with friends who also have a passion for prayer and scripture and hearts filled with love. Such was my dear friend Sharon who helped me learn to face each day with passion. Each week she would message me with a comment about something I said in my article, and I treasured that. So Sharon, this one's for you! I'll miss you my sweet friend!

Please consider joining a prayer group and share healing prayers with others. I thank you all for your prayers for Don and me.

I'm praying for you!

Greetings from the Music Ministry

Hello New Life Church!

This week we will be challenged to ask ourselves where we turn when we are in survival mode?  What is your response when life gets very tough and you aren’t sure you can go on?   Our anthem is a favorite Gaither tune that many love entitled, He Touched Me.  It talks about being shackled by the burden of sin and guilt and how Christ comes and touches our lives in such a way that we are freed and completely made whole.  But Jesus is also there for us when life is hard and things that are out of our control are burdensome and heavy.  He is there for us when we are just trying to survive.  If you are a Christ follower, and have the Holy Spirit of God inside you, you have a constant comforter, healer and counselor.  So many times we allow our life circumstances to shackle us, and we do not tap into the power and the presence of God that is freely available to us.  The challenge this week is to, in every season, lean on the everlasting arms of God, to trust Him and obey Him, and allow the Spirit of God within you to heal, console, comfort, guide, guard and direct you.  Allow God to really touch you this week.  Open yourself up to experiencing Him to the fullest.

Anthem   - He Touched Me - Bill & Gloria Gaither

Shackled  by a heavy burden

‘Neath a load of guilt and shame

Then the hand of Jesus touched me

And now I am no longer the same

He touched me, oh He touched me

And oh the joy that floods my soul

Something happened, and now I know

He touched me, and made me whole

Since I’ve met this blessed Savior

Since He’s cleansed and made me whole

I will never cease to praise Him

I will shout it while eternity rolls

He touched me, oh He touched me

And oh the joy that floods my soul

Something happened, and now I know

He touched me, and made me whole

I would love to invite anyone who would be interested in helping with the music ministry this summer to reach out to me.  We would love to have solos and instrumentalists and even more choir participants, even if you are normally not in the choir all year.  E-mail me if you are interested.

Also, If you love to sing, please consider joining the Chancel Choir.  We meet on Thursday evenings from 7-9 PM.  We sing most Sunday mornings during the 9:15 service and are very flexible with travel plans and needing to be away at times.  We have a wide variety of musicians with various backgrounds and there is a place for you!  Please consider coming to a rehearsal to see if you would like to join us in this very fulfilling ministry.

At New Life Church, everyone in the music ministry is a worship leader.  Our aim is to…

Through the Power of the Holy Spirit.

Skillfully combining God’s Word with music,

Thereby motivating NEW LIFE church to…

Proclaim the Gospel

Cherish God’s presence and

Live for God’s Glory
