Men's Breakfast, November 18

All men are invited Saturday, November 18th at 8:00 am in Lenox Hall. Avner Boskey will speak to us live from Israel via Zoom on the large screen TV in Lenox Hall. The title of Avner’s presentation is "The Bible, the Middle East and the Jews - what’s really happening?"

Avner and his wife Rachel have led a music ministry in Israel since 1978. During those years, they have spent short periods of time in the United States and pastored a church in St. Petersburg, Russia for one year. Pastor Bob and Sue Carlson first met Avner in 1977.

A Continental Breakfast will be provided. There is no charge for this event, but please make reservations by Thursday, November 16 by contacting Wayne Sharp at sharpww@me.com. Invite a friend.

Cuba Sunday School

The increasing participation of children in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School has shown the requirements for classroom space and kindergarten supplies. Presently all our children's classes are held outside in the yard or on the sidewalk. It is mostly a verbal presentation because the children have nothing to follow along with. They need Bible stories, Bible coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, Biblical dolls for Christmas and other items that you can provide for a 3-5 year old. We can carry vitamins to help them grow healthy and medicines to help the sick and hurt get better, but we also need to provide for their spiritual growth. All children go to elementary school at age six and have all the items necessary to learn in school. Our help is needed for those younger kids who need to hear about Jesus.

The Cuba Box in Lenox Hall is the place to drop off your gifts. On that box is a list of the medical needs along with the children's learning needs. Our deadline for packing for Cuba is Wednesday December 6 so do not wait too long. Questions can be directed to Tom Little, 941-769-0002.

Do you enjoy wrapping Christmas Gifts?

Join us November 28

We need at least 25 volunteers to skillfully wrap over 300 gifts that we are collecting for our foster children. We plan to have a HUGE gift wrapping “party” on Tuesday, November 28th in the Life Center. No RSVP is necessary, simply come when you can, and leave when you must between the hours of 9 am and 12 noon.

We will provide all of the colorful wrapping paper, scotch tape, bows, and ribbon. You are merely asked to bring a joyful spirit and your favorite pair of scissors. Your help wrapping all these Christmas gifts will help bring joy to 44 foster families, comprised of 142 foster children, this Christmas season.

A Word from Worship

Greetings New Life Church family and friends,

It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Someone even asked me if I had my tree up yet! Really?!

As we approach this special time of year, I am especially filled with more gratitude than ever.  After a rocky year of health problems, I am still able to serve during this busy season. This year, our family is not only all together, but we are blessed to be awaiting the birth of two new great grand-babies before Christmas. While we are filled with gratitude and Thanksgiving for these blessings, I know that many are struggling with illnesses or loss of loved ones. We are blessed here at New Life Church to offer programs like Surviving the Holidays (on 11/18) and Grief Share classes to help folks through these difficult situations. In addition, there are Bible studies available to help us grow in our faith. Please check online or The Bridge for specific information. Another faith builder during the weeks leading to our Christmas celebration is to join a prayer group. Rosie's Prayer Moments is open for anyone who'd like to join us on Thursdays from 12 until 1pm in our historic sanctuary. We all need prayer at times and the greatest gift is to pray for others when they are in need. James 5:13 "Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray." Many of us tend to turn to human solutions to try and solve problems but God promises His assistance and grace to those who call on Him through prayer in their time of need. When we are thankful, we worship Him with reverence and awe. Thanksgiving is not just a holiday once a year, but an attitude of our heart that gives us joy. We cannot worship God with an ungrateful heart. We can go through the motions but ingratitude will definitely hold us back. When you're struggling emotionally or spiritually, stop and think about your attitude. I know it's hard to feel grateful when everything seems to be going wrong, but sometimes writing things down - even seemingly small things - will help us shift our attitude from things that are"wrong" to gradually focus on things that we can rejoice as "right". No matter what is happening in our lives, we can be joyful in God's promise of His gift of salvation. Allow your heart to overflow with thankfulness, and He will fill us with joy.

I am looking for volunteers to help with decking the halls of our campus on Monday 11/27 and Tuesday 11/28. Contact me at my email below for more info.

Let's pray for each other during this very busy and sometimes difficult time of year. The blessings are huge.

I am praying for you!
