Operation Christmas Child Packing Party!
Tim Buck
We are having an Operation Christmas Child Shoebox packing party on 10/15 at 5pm in the Life Center. Everyone is invited to come pack a shoebox, write a note to the child receiving the box, and pray over them.
The teens of the church are sponsoring this event. They will be serving Christmas cookies and punch after your box has been filled. With your help, our youth group hopes to fill over 100 shoeboxes that night! Please join them and help them reach this lofty goal.

A Word from Worship
Greetings New Life Church family and friends,
I know that I say this frequently but October is about half through already. Honestly, it does make me aware of how fleeting life is. I am not a wise person who can give advice, but I've been very conscious of how quickly the days, weeks, months, and years go by. I think this is especially true when a person goes through long periods of struggles or hardships of any kind - whether acute or chronic health problems like mine or any other type of problems causing you or loved ones a hardship. This most recent bout of intense treatment I've gone through has prompted several comments or questions about the "good attitude" I have in spite of everything. Believe me, I love and appreciate your comments, concerns, encouragement, and especially prayers. It gives me another opportunity to praise our Heavenly Father and share with others the joy I receive from Him, especially during these toughest times. When tests and challenges come at us from all sides, consider it a joyful opportunity. We shouldn't waste time or energy regretting how things are or wishing we could go back to yesterday. We have a sovereign, powerful, and loving God who has promised that He is there to help us. The first thing I do, when things get bad, is reach out for His hand with trust, knowing that I am not able to handle these situations by myself- but together we can handle anything. He is there for each of us and believe me, you can be joyful in the midst of struggles. For me, this requires prayers, patience, and perseverance. One of the hardest things is waiting for resolution, but I've found that praising God for things both big and small, seen or unseen is a great faith builder. Even when I might feel
down, I turn to Romans 12:12, "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer ". We can praise God even when our hearts feel heavy because He is especially good when things are hard, or when the future seems bleak. Sometimes it's the last thing we might feel like doing, but actually, it's the best thing we can do. We can praise Him with our actions, our voices, or our attitudes and put Him at the center of our lives.
Psalm 150:6
Let everything alive give praises to the Lord!
You praise Him!
Hallelujah!
Please remember: Sign-up sheets are available in each building to volunteer to help with the Halloween event. Stop at the Gazebo between services to get tickets for the UCW Bridal Gown event. Don't forget the Senior Expo on Saturday, October 14th in the Life Center. All of this info and more is available online and in The Bridge. Please stop by the sanctuary on Thursdays at 12 o'clock for a time of prayer. We have much to pray for!
I am praying for you!
