Update of Hurricane Helene Damage to our Campus
Hurricane Helene visited our church last Thursday. With it we had between 2 and 4 feet of water in 5 of our buildings: the Bargain Boutique; The Administration Office; All the lower classrooms and nursery; Music Rooms; Prayer Room; Pastor Bob’s office; meeting rooms 9 & 13; and Lenox Hall.
The Life Center was the only building that escaped any damage. The Sanctuary did not have any damage to the building, but the air ducts for the air conditioning that are underneath the building have to be replaced.
To date we have had to clear out all the buildings and rooms of all furniture, materials, supplies, and anything on the walls, in order to mitigate the damage from the water surge. We have also had to cut out the dry wall from the ground floor up to 4 feet on all the interior walls in order to open the walls for disinfecting purposes.
We have had our contractor on site all week. We are drying out all the buildings and rooms, and the next step will be a disinfecting process to clean the walls and floors. We have had our air conditioning service on campus to begin to repair several air units that were covered with water, and to repair the duct work underneath the Sanctuary.
Finally, we have had to throw away most of the chairs, file cabinets, book shelves, and all other furniture that was used in these buildings. Basically we will be starting over when the remediation work is finished to replace our furniture and equipment.
Having listed all of this damage, we are not as bad as some of our congregation and many homeowners in our area. We know our Lord has a plan for our church as we move forward in serving Him for His purposes.
Please pray for all of those who have had damage to their homes and livelihood from this horrific storm.
