Aslan Update

Mike and Debbie Loomis

Aslan turned 10 months old over the weekend!

He now weighs nearly 20 lbs and he is crawling all over the place.

While he still aspirates liquids (they go into his lungs), he is now able to ‘eat’ things like baby food.

In addition, he will be having eye surgery, probably within the next few weeks.

Thank you for your continuing concern and prayers. We cannot fully express how much your care for him and our family means to us.

Harmony Class

The Harmony Class will begin a new six-week study on Sunday, September 24th at 9:15 in Lenox Hall.  This study, “Twisting The Truth” by Andy Stanley exposes some common ways God’s truth gets twisted. Materials will be provided.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

8:30 am - 1:30 pm; appointments are recommended. Schedule a donation time HERE.

Church Library Notes

Shelby DeCapite

For visitors as well as our congregation, we extend an invitation to visit our little library located in the southwest corner of the Life Center.

Our lending library is full of inspirational books and media material. The collection is NOT on a digital catalog and is organized by themes. We have a paper catalog in a notebook file folder located on the check out desk. Inside this paper catalog you will also locate our library mission statement and policies. You are welcome to browse though the paper catalog or just walk around the room and look and see what is on the shelf. Come and check out a book.

If you are seeking Punta Gorda history or our church history, we also have a shelf that is dedicated to that. You will find wonderful newspaper articles, church records, old pictures and church bulletins, etc. History buffs will enjoy the collections and the wealth of information that has been lovingly collected throughout the years. Unfortunately this material is not for check out but you are welcome to come in, set down, and read it here in the church library.

Book/media donations are accepted and we will decide if your donations fit into our library collection. If you have suggestions or questions, please email shelbydecapite@yahoo.com.

Recent donations include the book "Operation Christmas Child: a Story of Simple Gifts" by Franklin Graham and Donna Lee Toney.

Tuesday Night Small Groups

Our Tuesday night small groups will resume on October 3rd at 6:30pm. We will be offering several different classes: financial, marriage, parenting, and discipleship. If you will need childcare, please contact Becca for registration by September 26th. To sign up for a class, follow the link below or sign up in Lenox Hall. Tuesday night small groups are a great way to meet new people and deepen your walk with Jesus - we hope you will join us!

Children's Books Donations Needed!

We are collecting new or used children's books (ages 12 and under) to donate to the Literacy Bus which will be on campus for Halloween.

There is an orange bin in Lenox Hall where you can leave your book donations. Thank you!

A Word from Worship

Greetings New Life Church family and friends -

It's been quite a week.  I'm sure I'm not alone when I admit that life can seem more challenging than I can cope with. When life events or difficulties become so big, we can have a familiar tendency to feel responsible for resolving these difficulties on our own - or - seek earthly assistance rather than take our troubles to Him. Soon we find ourselves feeling like there's no hope in our situation and no solution to our dilemmas. I've had two dear friends who have suffered through terrible trials, along with myself the past couple of weeks. Thankfully, through the power of prayer, we can instead interact with the Almighty, our Lord. He is the true source of our help! He proclaims in Jeremiah 32:27 -

"Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?" There is nothing too challenging for Him to overcome. When we fellowship with Him in prayer, He fills us with His strength and clears away obstacles for us. Not only does He give us insight and wisdom through this gift of prayer I believe He uses our difficulties to build us up and grow our faith. Isn't it wonderful that God is always with us, every moment, no matter where we are? Someone told me that they didn't feel worthy after doubting when problems seem overwhelming, but the Lord accepts us based on Christ's death on the cross, not due to anything we've done or failed to do. As I continue to battle illness and continuing treatments as well as new problems. I am grateful that I never need to fear because I know He loves me and is with me always. He is bigger than all my problems and always helps me. I encourage everyone to get a prayer partner whom you can call on to pray with you when trouble happens.

Encouragement with friends is helpful. Please ask for prayer if you're in need.

Keep reading the Bridge so you'll be aware of upcoming events or classes. Be sure to sign in for worship attendance. If you need a name tag, you can contact Gail in the church office or let me know on Sundays.

I'm praying for you!
