A Message from the Executive Director
Today, I’m grateful for the everyday helpers. The business owners who give back, the volunteers who stack chairs, the staff who stay late after our mixers, and the members who show up again and again. Because of you, McKinleyville feels like a community that has each other’s backs. Wishing you a restful week and plenty of good company.

"Kathy was a great facilitator and had easy-to-implement suggestions for tackling conflict. She kept us engaged and gave us tools to use in our personal and professional lives. I really enjoyed being able to fit her session in on a lunch hour and felt recharged after."

We attended the recent MMAC/MCSD meeting on disaster & emergency preparedness in McKinleyville and Humboldt County, and there was a LOT of helpful info shared by Humboldt County Sheriff's Office and McKinleyville CERT.
Tip #1: Sign up for Humboldt ALERTS
This system notifies you about urgent threats to health and safety. Things like wildfire evacuations, flood warnings, tsunami alerts, and shelter-in-place orders.
Important reminder: Humboldt ALERTS is a powerful tool, but in a large-scale event, communications can fail. Stay aware of your surroundings and don’t wait for an alert if you believe you need to leave.
Please share this with a neighbor. The more prepared we are, the safer our community is.

What is the McKinleyville Community Forest Committee (MCFC)?
The purpose of the McKinleyville Community Forest Committee (MCFC) is to make recommendations to the McKinleyville Community Services District (MCSD) Board of Directors regarding plans, policies, programs, and projects relating to McKinleyville Community Forest.
The MCFC is comprised of forest and natural resource professionals, District staff, local tribe representatives, as well as members of the McKinleyville public in service to the planning, development, and management of the Community Forest.
The McKinleyville Community Forest (MCF) will be managed for multiple purposes, including public recreation, timber production, fish and wildlife habitat, carbon sequestration, education and research, and soil and watershed conservation. The development and management of the MCF will rely heavily on input and support from the community. MCSD will be holding several public input processes as we move forward to ensure that the MCF is stewarded in a socially beneficial, environmentally appropriate, economically viable, and sustainable manner.
