BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
BRYAN WALLICK
Bryan Wallick
The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance piano technician, Justin Holcomb, prepares the instrument for Wallick's recording session at the University Center for the Arts at Colorado State University.
IKOF board member Bryan Wallick was appointed assistant professor of piano at Colorado State University in 2019 and performed as a featured Guest Artist during last summer's Odyssiad® Festival.

Prior to arriving in Colorado, Wallick lived in South Africa for 15 years where he established himself as a performer and an educator while also taking the reigns of the prestigious Schalk Visser Concert Agency and formed Bryan Wallick Concert Promotions. He continues to manage the agency while residing in the United States.

Wallick was recently featured on the podcast Kreative by Konstantin, where pianist Konstantin Soukhovetski has informal chats with leading artists who give valuable advice, entertaining anecdotes, and candid thoughts on life in music.

In the interview, Wallick talks about wearing multiple hats: performer and a business owner, concert promoter and educator. He shares amazing advice on efficient practicing, memorizing, preparing for performances with orchestras, and chamber music.

During the pandemic, Wallick has spent time recording on the new Steinway at the University Center for the Arts. Look for the coming releases on his YouTube channel.

A MUSICAL ODYSSEY
Up Next - Kemal Gekic
Croatian pianist Kemal Gekic, Artist in Residence at Florida International University and frequent IKOF Guest Artist, performs in IKOF's new video series, A Musical Odyssey.
Our new project, A Musical Odyssey, aims to maintain the Odyssiad® Festival's presence this year with a series of informal videos produced by previous IKOF guest artists and Odyssiad® winners from 2012 — when IKOF was founded — to 2021 when we celebrate our tenth anniversary. Many thanks to our artists in the IKOF family who contributed voluntarily to this project from their homes and studios around the world, some with their pets or family members, some serious, some hilarious, all welcome and entertaining.
A Musical Odyssey presents these informal videos approximately every two weeks throughout the year for your enjoyment in viewing our artists in an informal and more personal way. Videos are being shared via email and on our website.

This week we present Kemal Gekic, Artist in Residence at Florida International University and frequent IKOF Guest Artist.

Unfortunately, the March 7, 2021 performance of the Fort Collins Health and Wellness Community Orchestra (Leslie Stewart conducting) featuring Jessica Zhang, 2019 Odyssiad®  winner of the Single-Movement Concerto Division, has been cancelled. We look forward to welcoming Jessica back to Fort Collins to perform with the orchestra in the very near future.
