Governmental Affairs Update
The Arc of New Jersey's Executive Director Tom Baffuto highlighted the need to increase wages for Direct Support Professionals and raise the day program rate when he testified at the Department of Human Services (DHS) Budget Listening Session last month. The Listening Session was an opportunity to provide feedback to the Department about funding priorities in the Fiscal Year 2022 Budget. Tom thanked the leaders of the DHS for last year’s DSP wage increase, but warned more funding will be needed in FY22 as the state’s minimum wage is set to rise again next January. Zoom With Us Workshops

This presentation will provide an overview of The Arc of New Jersey’s services and supports, as well as information on The Arc of the U.S. and NJ’s local county chapters of The Arc.
Resources for Parents with Children Returning to School
The COVID-19 pandemic has been an exhausting source of uncertainty for students and their families. As we continue down a road of school closures and reopenings, hybrid schedules, and "you're on mute" reminders, many parents are in search of advice for how to handle their child's education. Online Classes with The Arc of Monmouth
The Achievement Zone at The Arc of Monmouth will be offering online classes via Zoom through May 28, 2021. Some of the subjects include reading/writing, fine arts, technology, money management, and cooking. Classes are available Monday through Friday from 9am-3pm, and are one hour in length. Participants can sign up for as many classes as they'd like, and do not have to attend a full day of classes. To see a full list of class options and fill out an application, click the button below.

Creating an Inclusive Classroom, presented by Fred Buglione, President & CEO of NJCIE

Fred Buglione is the President & CEO of the New Jersey Coalition for Inclusive Education (NJCIE) and has been leading the organization since 2014. Fred has twenty years of experience supporting the education and inclusion of students and adults in the tri-state area. He is currently on several state and national working groups seeking to increase access to inclusive education.

In this webinar, we will touch on what inclusive education instructional practices are and how they have been implemented in schools. Inclusive education is a group of practices that structure a classroom and lessons for all students to learn together. An inclusive classroom is a learning environment in which care is taken to ensure that all learners are supported, engaged, and accepted. The instructional practices we implement to include all learners include Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Differentiation, and Modifications and Accommodations.
Culinary Opportunities Program
The Culinary Opportunities Program at the County College of Morris has been designed for students with developmental disabilities and will offer a Certificate of Completion to students who complete all 72 hours of instruction. The curriculum affords an introduction to the skills needed to be successful in a food production environment, including culinary and baking skills, Serv-Safe certification, resume preparation, and the opportunity to meet potential employers. The New Jersey Directory of Mental Health Services is now available for online viewing. This document is intended to provide information about mental health programs that are offered across the state of New Jersey. Please note that this directory only includes programs that have received funding through the Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and services outside this guide may exist. The document is broken into three parts. Part One contains some preliminary remarks. Part Two lists all community programs funded by the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and sorted by the County served. Part Three lists all of the programs, sorted by the type of program service.
