Dean Arnett is joining and presenting at the Right Care Initiative in their upcoming Virtual University of Best Practices event on Monday, Feb. 14, 12-3 p.m. (PST). She is presenting on the topic “Family History as a Predictor of Cardiovascular Events & Role of Genetics in Hypertension."

The new KET “Fighting To Breathe: Lung Health In Kentucky” premieres on Monday, Feb. 21, which is a three-part series that examines the under-told story of lung diseases in Kentucky – the causes, the impact on those afflicted, and the exciting new developments in treatment and prevention.

All researchers, practitioners, and community members are invited to an interactive "Coal and Coalfield Webinar" on Wednesday, February 23rd, 9:00am - 12:00pm EST. The research team will present the results of surveys conducted with over 9000 residents of the Appalachian and Welsh regions.

The Biostatistics (BST) Department is hosting workshops that cover various aspects of teaching, starting on February 22nd. The first of these is on authentic assessment and will be presented by Dr. Amanda Ellis, Assistant Professor in the BST department. These workshops are open for all CPH faculty, staff, and graduate students.

On February 17th, the Epidemiology and Biostatistics departments welcomes Dr. Natasha DeJarnett, Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and in the Division of Environmental Medicine, to speak on the topic "Environmental Health at the Intersection of Research and Policy."

Know a public health hero? Then, you should nominate someone for the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s Dr. Rice C. Leach Public Health Hero Award. The award, now in its 19th year, is for individuals who have demonstrated their dedication to improving the health of Lexington residents. Deadline is February 25th, 2022.

This scholarship was named in memory and honor of Theodore "Ted" Hanekamp who devoted his entire career to public health. In 2006, he was inducted in the CPH Hall of Fame. This scholarship will be administered by Kentucky Public Health Association and matched by CPH up to $10,000 each calendar year. Deadline is March 14th, 2022.
