On Thursday, April 21, the UK community will come together to celebrate the university’s giving day and support their favorite college, program or cause. This year, CPH is asking our community to support the new "Student Support Fund", which is designed to help our students who are experiencing a financial need or monetary crisis/emergency while enrolled in the college.

News, Events, and Stories
Dr. Maureen Jones and the MHA student team of Hannah Wethington, Shivang Patel, and Shelby Watkins (pictured) recently placed third in the 2022 Ohio State Case Competition. This competition provides first-year graduate students from health administration programs across the country an opportunity to put what they have learned into practice with a real-life case.

During the recent 2022 National Public Health Week celebration, many CPH students (several pictured) and a faculty member, received awards at a special ceremony at the Singletary Center for the Arts for their outstanding achievements, leadership, and service to public health.

Dr. Richard Crosby receives the 2022 Golden Apple Award
Dr. Richard Crosby, Good Samaritan Endowed Professor in the Department of Health Behavior & Society at the University of Kentucky College of Public Health, is the 2022 recipient of the Golden Apple Award!

This award is voted on by students and is presented to a faculty member that has demonstrated excellence in teaching, leadership and innovation in the classroom.
Kelsey Gatton awarded two KPHA scholarships
Current MPH/HSPA student and CPH staff member, Kelsey Gatton, was recently awarded two scholarships, the Public Health Workforce Development and Theodore 'Ted' Hanekamp, by the Kentucky Public Health Association (KPHA). These scholarship opportunities provides financial support for the public health workforce and students to help continue their education in Kentucky.

Dr. Teresa Waters receives the CCTS Mentor Recognition Award
At the recent 2022 Kentucky Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) Conference on Climate and Health, Dr. Teresa Waters, HMP Chair at CPH, was recognized with an early-career faculty mentor award.

Her nominee said, "Teresa's mentorship continues to be critical in my development as a researcher. She is an advocate and ally for early career researchers and deserving of this award."
Dr. Sarah Cprek is a recipient of the 2022 UK Outstanding Teaching
Award
Congratulations to Dr. Sarah Cprek, Director of Undergraduate Studies, on being selected as a recipient of the 2022 University of Kentucky Outstanding Teaching Award!

Friends, family, and colleagues are invited to the J. David Rosenberg College of Law Grand Courtroom on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 1pm to 3pm for the celebration event.
Dr. Jerod Stapleton, Associate Professor in the Health, Behavior & Society department at CPH is presenting virtually on the topic "Engaging, Motivating, and Changing Behavior: Lessons From Melanoma Prevention Efforts To Reduce Use Of Indoor Tanning Beds” at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center on April 22nd.

The Online Course Development Award recognizes CPH faculty that have developed a fully-online course most closely aligned with the colleges online standards. Self-nominations are now open.

To be eligible, must be CPH faculty, course fully-online, and at least 10 students enrolled.

IPH Center Open House Event on April 27
The Center for Innovation in Population Health (IPH Center) invites all CPH faculty and staff to their open house to celebrate their new office space in the College of Public Health building.

Open House will take place on Wednesday, April 27 from 3:30 – 5:00 PM (with food provided) in Suite 201 in the College of Public Health.
