New Marcom team members!
Scot Gillies is Marcom's new Production/Marketing Coordinator. Scot will champion project management, social media, digital marketing, content creation and writing, and general graphic design support.

Tracey Sun is joining the Marcom team as a Student Graphic Designer. Tracey, a current architecture student at UK, will eventually champion all creative assets and graphic design needs for the college.

Dr. Caitlin Pope, Assistant Professor in the Department of Health, Behavior & Society, Graduate Center for Gerontology, and KIPRC, is recognized as a 2022 Association For Psychological Science (APS) Rising Star, which is presented to outstanding members in the earliest stages of their research career.

This new piece of original scholarship "Identifying Value-Added Population Health Capabilities to Strengthen Public Health Infrastructure", by Dr. Rachel Hogg-Graham and colleagues, finds that communities with the most comprehensive public health system structure in both urban and rural areas implemented the largest set of population health capabilities.

In the new Kentucky Education Television's "Fighting to Breathe" series, the first episode explores the causes, diagnosis and best practices for treating COPD and asthma and looks at new research and innovative public health measures to address these conditions.

MHA alumna Reynalda "Rey" Davis (’18) took a different path than most to public health. Learn about her journey to Banner Health, which is one of the largest non-profit healthcare systems in the country, and how Rey is impacting more than a million patients across 20 plus programs.

The Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center's (KIPRC) Kentucky Injury Indicators Report provides a summary of Kentucky resident injury-related mortalities, inpatient hospitalizations and emergency department visits across various injury mechanism and demographic characteristics in 2020.

Each year, our college honors outstanding students and student leaders at an awards ceremony during Public Health Week. This year, we are excited for the reception to be held IN PERSON on Tuesday, April 5th at the Singletary Center for the Arts. A light reception will begin at 4:45PM with the awards ceremony following at 5:15PM.

The BERD Bites (Bringing Information and Training to Educate Scholars) Learning Series, hosted by the CCTS Biostatistics, Epidemiology & Research Design (BERD), provides monthly opportunities to learn more about types of research design and provide training on biostatistics and data. The next one is on February 28th at 12pm via Zoom.


Center for Clinical and Translational Science
The UK College of Public Health is a co-sponsor of the 2022 17th Annual CCTS Spring Conference: Climate and Health event on April 5th, 2022, from 8am to 5pm in the Gatton Student Center on campus. This event is held in conjunction with the UK College of Public Health Research Day, which is part of the 2022 National Public Health Week (NPHW).
Center for Innovation in Population Health
The 18th Annual TCOM Conference, September 21 – 23, 2022 in New Orleans, LA, is centered on TCOM (Transformational Collaborative Outcomes Management), which is a framework for managing systems whose mission is to help people change their lives is some important way. This was developed by our own IPH Center Director, Dr. John Lyons.

The Call for Proposals to submit a presentation has been extended until Friday, March 4, 2022, and can be submitted here. Attendees of the annual conference are professionals from various fields such as child welfare, mental health, behavioral health, social work, juvenile justice, education, and other complex systems of care.

UK Human Resources' Work-Life and Well-Being services are offering a full calendar of workshops and events in March 2022. They offer services in mental health, personal finance and resilience, nutrition, physical activity, and other coaching and specialist services.
