Svetla Slavova, PhD, has been named our new named Interim Associate Dean for Research. In the role of Interim Associate Dean for Research, Dr. Slavova hopes to help early career faculty as they apply for grants, work on applying for collegewide research center grants, and provide training to faculty and staff for research data management. 

Jerod Stapleton, PhD, has been recently appointed as Interim Chair of the Health, Behavior & Society department, effective July 18th. Let's congratulate and recognize Jerod for taking on this important leadership role at our College!

Leah Casanave is currently the Division Chief at the Douglas County Health Department in Omaha, Nebraska. “Our mission is to protect, promote, and prioritize the health of our entire community,” says Leah. “We want a healthy, vibrant, and resilient community for everyone, everywhere.”

Dr. Jennifer Jones-Vanderleest was honored with the 2022 American Academy of HIV Medicine’s Cesar Augusto Caceres Award for Technology in HIV Practice. The award recognizes persons “who have created, adapted, and/or used innovative technology in their HIV practice and to share that technological knowledge with others in the practice of HIV medicine to improve patient care.”

The Kentucky Perinatal Quality Collaborative (KyPQC) has remained focused on the impact of substance use disorder (SUD) on both obstetrical and neonatal care in the state. It's currently implementing First Initiatives that focus on supporting universal screening for SUD in labor and delivery units and improving reporting of infants born with intrauterine substance exposure to the state’s Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome Registry.

The Kentucky Safety and Prevention Alignment Network (KSPAN) is hosting its annual meeting on Tuesday, July 26, in Frankfort, KY. The meeting is open to anyone who has a desire to support injury and violence prevention and wishes to network with others working in the field. There is no cost for the KSPAN meeting and a free lunch will be provided.

The Center for Innovation in Population Health is involved in an annual conference that supports those in child welfare, behavioral health, mental health, and other fields of system of care. The 2022 TCOM Conference will be hosted in-person in New Orleans, LA September 21-23, 2022 and virtually for September 26-27, 2022.
