Effective June 15th, Dr. Heather Bush will be Acting Dean of the UK College of Public Health. Dr. Bush will assume this important leadership role and responsibilities from the current Dean, Dr. Donna K. Arnett, who has served in this capacity since 2016.

The IPH Center created the Shift, Shift…Bloom! Podcast, which examines how people change, why they change, and how they sustain the changes that are most important to them in their everyday lives. The ten-episode first season featured guests who consider themselves to be change makers, change embracers, or resistors of change. Get access to all of the first season episodes and get ready for Season 2, which has already been confirmed.

Congratulations to Dr. Amanda Ellis, recipient of the CPH Online Course Development Award for the 21/22 Academic Year. In developing CPH603 (Intro to Data Analysis for Public Health), Amanda combined her in-person and online sections into a single Canvas shell and included helpful narrative explaining how each cohort is expected to participate. The course was well structured, easy to navigate and heled positive rapport with her students.

The Purple Star Award Program focuses on strengthening the resilience of Kentucky’s military-connected youth and ensuring that their social, emotional, and academic needs are met. It is a partnership of 18 agencies in the state, including the Kentucky Violence and Injury Prevention Program (KVIPP) at the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC). Following three award ceremonies in April, Kentucky now boasts six Purple Star schools.

Kentucky's Madison County Health Department recently announced Dr. Nikita Vundi as their new Director of Public Health. Dr. Vundi is a CPH graduate with a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree in Epidemiology. Prior to her appointment, she served the Commonwealth as an Epidemiologist in the HIV/AIDS Branch of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
