An author, diplomat, doctor, editor, educator, father, founder, friend, grandfather, husband, mentor, researcher, veteran, and so much more, Dr. F. Douglas Scutchfield, inaugural dean of the University of Kentucky College of Public Health, passed away on Monday, May 23, in Lexington, Kentucky.

A celebration of life will take place in the UK Honors College Atrium on Wednesday, June 22, at 4:30 p.m.

CPH students, Christopher Otieno and Ashley Wright, have been accepted to the Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center (SCoBIRC) African American Research Training Scholars (AARTS) program, an opportunity to receive up to 12 months of funded research training in neurotrauma at the University of Kentucky’s College of Medicine.

CPH alumna and current Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC) epidemiologist Mira Mirzaian saw the Central Appalachian Regional Education and Research Center CARERC as the boost she needed to kickstart her career in research.

2021/22 Dean's Teaching Awards
Congratulations to the winners of the 2021/22 Dean’s Teaching Awards! The recipients are:
Angela Carman, Undergraduate Outstanding Teaching Award (CPH 423 & CPH 470); Sarah Vos, Innovation in Teaching Award (CPH 350); and David Fardo & Erin Abner, Graduate Outstanding Teaching Award (CPH 786).
Dr. Amanda Ellis wins the TSHS 2022 Young Investigator Award
Congratulations to Dr. Amanda Ellis, 2022 winner of the Teaching Statistics in the Health Sciences (TSHS) Section's Young Investigator Award. The award will be presented at the TSHS Mixer in August at the 2022 Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) in Washington D.C.
CPH represents at the 2022 AcademyHealth Annual Meeting
CPH represented well at the recent AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting (ARM) in Washington, DC earlier this month. The ARM is the premier forum for health services research and convenes the foremost experts at the intersection of health, health care, and policy. Our faculty shared their important findings and showcased the latest research on how the health system works, what it costs, and how to improve it.
