The Health Education Building (HEB), a collaboration of four UK health care colleges, is the next home for the College of Public Health. This new facility will be the hub for health education and prepare the next generation of health leaders to help Kentuckians, and everyone, live longer, healthier lives.

Since its inception, CPH has honored legends of public health. This year’s recipients include: Greg Corby-Lee, Dr. Larry Prybil, Dr. Angela Dearinger, Dr. Erin Abner, Dr. Neil Horsley, and Esias Bedingar. Please join us for a night of celebration as we honor our public health champions in Kentucky and beyond.

At the recent Markey Research Day, the Markey Women Strong Research award was split between two researchers whose groundbreaking work addresses the cancer burden among women. One of these researchers included Dr. Krystle Kuhs, epidemiology associate professor at CPH.

Dr. Radmila "Rada" Choate, Research Assistant Professor in Epidemiology at CPH, will be presenting her research in a poster discussion at the American Thoracic Society (ATS) 2022 International Conference in San Francisco. Dr. Choate also co-authored three other posters.

UK's undergraduate Intern of the Year, Alyssa Hargis, is a double-major in Environmental and Sustainability Studies and Public Health student. Alyssa was honored for her work at the Kentucky Environmental Public Health Tracking Network in the Kentucky Department of Public Health, where she led Kentucky’s participation in a nationwide CDC pilot study to examine patterns in cold-related illness mortality.

On May 23rd at 12pm via Zoom, Dr. Meredith Duncan, Assistant Professor in the Biostatistics Department, is leading a presentation which will provide an overview of when and how to adjust for race and ethnicity as well as guidelines for choosing when it is not appropriate.

Staff members and faculty associates with the Kentucky Injury Prevention and Research Center (KIPRC) recently shared their work in substance use disorder research, treatment, and prevention at the 2022 Rx Drug Abuse & Heroin Summit, held April 18-21, in Atlanta. Faculty associates Chris Delcher, PhD, Dana Quesinberry, JD, DPH, Trish Freeman, PhD, and Svetla Slavova, PhD, all presented.
