Last Sunday's Service

October is upon us, and with it come cooler weather, fall colors, and also the annual Peacemaking Offering. This collection, also known as the Peace and Global Witness Offering, is one of three PCUSA General Assembly Special Offerings that we collect at Northmont throughout the year. The other two are the Eastertime One Great Hour of Sharing Offering and the Christmas Joy Offering. The Peacemaking Offering is typically collected on World Communion Sunday, which is the first Sunday in October, but contributions can be made throughout October. Generally, 25 percent of the offering is retained by each congregation for their own peacemaking use, 25 percent is used by synods and presbyteries, and 50 percent is used by the General Assembly ministries. Gifts to the Offering enable the church to promote the Peace of Christ by addressing systems of conflict and injustice across the world, and can be made using the designated pledge envelope or marking Peacemaking Offering on a pew envelope. Thank you for your consideration for this offering. – Your Mission Committee

The Book of Psalms is a “Treasure House of Prayers” and the “Hymn Book of the Old Testament.” It is a special favorite of mine and I want to offer eight sessions of discussion of The Psalms. I will do a Thursday afternoon session at 2 pm. I would like to do a Saturday morning session at a restaurant at 8 am (or have participants bring your breakfast to the church.) I am willing to do a Thursday evening session at 7 pm if enough people would be willing to attend. If you would like to participate you should contact me at 724-591-5032, speak to me at church on Sunday, or email me at kennedyalick@aol.com. The study will start the first week of October and end the first week of December ( skipping Thanksgiving week.) When you contact me, please leave your name, phone number and the session you would prefer to attend.

September 17 th until October 8 th

The mission committee has run a Food drive for Northside Common Ministries 2 times a year for at least 10 years. The need for food and other pantry items has only gotten greater over the years. The mission team will be running a special drive now till the 8 th of October.

The NCM pantry has asked that we collect Chicken noodle soup, Tooth Paste and Baking soda. These are items the clients need and will allow them to have money to purchase food they need!

Food items can be placed in the library across from the office.

Cash is also a good donation, so the pantry may purchase needed item at a reduced cost from the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank. This can be done by making out a check to Northmont UP Church with NCM food drive written in the memo line or you could use the pew envelope for cash be sure to indicate that it is for NCM food drive and placing that in the offering plate on any Sunday during the drive.Thank you for helping those in need.

Bill Goff would like to express his sincere thanks to the Northmont congregation for the prayers, cards, visits, food and acts of kindness and thoughtfulness before,  during and after  his recent knee surgery.  Northmont people, you are amazing and are absolutely the best!  I am so blessed to be a part of this church.

Mid-Week Worship Continues This Fall.

Moves to Tuesdays!

Join us at 7pm on the following dates, inside or outside depending on the weather:

October 3 and 17

November 7

If you have been missing our Zoom chats over coffee, then wait no further! Our weekly time to get together (on Zoom) over coffee is returning in September, now with some new and different times to get together.

Moving forward, we are going to try having some of these chats in the morning as we did before, and some of them in the evening, with the hope that folks who can’t join us early in the day can chat later :)

I will finalize the dates and times and post them for you next week!

Mark your calendars for all the fall events!
