Greetings to you! How are you feeling? I hope that you are well. Over in the capital city of St. Paul there is the church and school of St. Agnes. Today their parishioners, students, and staff members are celebrating their Patron Saint. As members of the Christian family we can also give thanks to God for the courageous life and witness of this young martyr.
Her name from Greek could be translated into English as, “Pure,” “Holy,” and “Lamb.” (en.wikipedia.org
) She is a person who maintained her purity in spite of horrendous pressure and opposition. She lived a holy life of loving devotion to the Lord even when others around her did not. Through her sufferings and ultimately martyrdom Saint Agnes dedicated herself completely to Jesus Christ who is “the Lamb of God.”
Knowing that we pray for young people who are tempted with sins against purity that they would remain steadfast in their resolve by the Grace of God. We also pray for their growth in holiness and true happiness through a living and loving relationship with God who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And we pray that they would be nourished like little lambs by Christ the Good Shepherd through his teaching and mercy at work within their lives.
For each and every one of us we ask for the prayerful intercession of Saint Agnes that we would live for the Glory of the Lord as pure, holy, and docile lambs who strive to be good and avoid what is baaaaaaaad.
