WHAT DID RKA DO IN 2022?

Horizons Unlimited

In April Richard went to Horizons unlimited at the Mariposa Fairgrounds and shipped a couple of boxes there, borrowed a tent, tables and set up shop. He also did THREE Seminars during the weekend.

My favorite seminar was the "BIG DOG on the bike"

AND of course it had to rain.

49ner Rally

In May, we added a roof rack and a trailer hitch basket, loaded up the KIA and Kathy drove and I rode to Quincy, CA for the 49ner Rally.

I used the SENA SR10 and FRS radios so Kathy and I could talk to each other.

BMW MOA,

In June, Richard rode his R1250RS to Springfield via I80, Kathy flew in, Product was shipped

We stayed at the very worst motel EVER!

We had dinner at the NICEST place EVER!

Kathy got left in Springfield.

She was going to ride the bus to Coweta OK to her sisters and I was riding the 1250RS. She wanted me to go ahead, and I decided to go to the “bus stop” and wait with her, glad I did as the bus was not coming anytime soon.

We looked into renting a car. It was Sunday morning early and nobody was home.

We looked into taking a taxi for $400.00 bucks. NOT!

Kathy’s sister drove from Coweta to Springfield and picked her up and I followed them.

At least until I eased over and the pretty black Jag passed me.

He was really cool and we had fun for almost 100 miles, cannot believe we did not get caught.

After a few days with family I proceeded to Las Vegas to spend time with Kathy’s brother (He has a pool) on a pretty bald rear tire …

Kinda lost my mind until I found myself on the Turner Turnpike, between Tulsa and Oklahoma City … mindlessly going 65 mph in the slow lane. It came to me at that time, inside my head I that KNEW that tire was not going another1900 miles.

I decided to stop, unannounced, at the BMW dealership "Eurotek Oklahoma City" and the GREAT crew there got me into a new RoadSmart rear, and back on the road before noon. I Spent a few days in Las Vegas and I had plans to make it a two day trip, but got on the muscle and decided it was STRAIGHT home 671 miles …

A pretty good day and only THREE fuel stops on the 4.8 gal tank

Barstow, Lost Hills, Westly and home

New Year’s Resolutions.

My resolutions …. Stop drinking, lose weight, ride pushbikes more.

We have had a little weather here, it could be a lot worse than it is, but have been worried about trees falling and our creek raising.

So far the no drinking part is working. The lose weight part will come with riding the pushbikes and that is impossible at this time. Hard nose bicylist as I may be, riding a bicycle in a down pour is not on my radar.

I decided to join up with “Zwift” again at 15 bucks per month or $.50 a day. For helping the cannot ride outside thing and losing weight, How will I afford the fifty cents a day?

I will stop Mc Donald’s and Subway BINGO 15 bucks! ;-)

Brought my Elite trainer in from our bicycle storage shed and our patio big screen TV into the dinning room which we never eat there anyway. So here is what the dining room looks like …..

When the weather gets better I’ll move everything to the Gazebo on the patio. That’s where the Big Screen lives anyway. Plus start riding out on the road again

NOTE: I would rather ride out on the road, but I will continue to ride on the trainer on a regular basic and if anyone out there wants to join me on Zwift, you can. No matter where you are once signed into Zwift we can connect and ride together. Or setup a regular ride time

TRAVEL / SETUP / EVENTS / LUGGAGE

This section is all one big story about our baby, the G310R, and Horizons Unlimited

Richard will share his “getting ready for Horizons Unlimited Trip” in April with you. This will help you all in deciding how to setup ANY motorcycle with luggage applications, luggage packing, communications, Navigation.

There’s a seminar on these subjects so come to the event.

"Horizons Unlimited California"

Also keep checking the

“RKA You Tube Page”

for “Seminars on Video” series

Getting Kathy’s BMW G310R ready for touring

Rackbag setup ..

Below is the transformation from Kathy's smaller bags to Richards 19.5 liter tankbag and 50 liter saddlebags

Saddlebag Standoffs setup ..

We have never had to use saddlebag standoffs before and looked into commericaly manufactured saddlebag standoffs.

There were multiple issues.

Most were very expensive.

Most would not work without some modications.

The ones that worked looked terrible when not using the saddlebags.

Easily put on and removed, The RKA saddlebag standoffs were designed and assembled by Richard using only a fraction of his imagination, which means anybody can do it.

Lastly we relocated the turnsignals to the license plate bracket. I ordered a relo kit but did not use it.

Tankbag setup ..

Communications setup ..

Camera setup ..

The G310GS can be setup also ..

If you have questions about any of the photos on this project, and we hope you DO. Please drop Richard a line.

LOST IN GEAR

Dustin, Janel are the real deal. This is just a teaser for their 12 part story that is being presented in the BMW MOA Magazine.

A while back this guy calls and asks if we could support his adventure. As we spoke I just got this feeling he was not just trying to get something for free but maybe did his research and wanted RKA products for him and his wife’s adventure because he CHOOSE RKA.

Kathy and I decide to send them two 13 liter Shiloh Road tankbags.

There will be more coming in the next REPORTS so it’s a must to stay tuned.

If you are not an BMW MOA memeber you can keep up with them here.....
