Message from Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce President, Maureen Scallen Failor

Dear valued Members and Community Partners,

These are challenging times, and the recent rise in case counts and case positivity is extremely concerning. As our state’s hospitals express increasing concerns about capacity to treat Minnesotans with COVID-19, Governor Walz’s new, targeted restrictions are aimed at curbing the spread of the virus in Minnesota. I encourage you to learn more about the new restrictions by watching the Executive Order 20-96 Discussion and Q&A Webinar, presented by MN DEED, HERE.

We know that dialing back is challenging for our cities and communities. We hope that by specifically targeting these dial backs on where the outbreak data shows us the challenges lie, we can turn the tide on this spread rather than engaging in broader shutdown measures so many other states have engaged in.  We are in it together and, with each other, we will get through this.

As we move toward the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays, I encourage and challenge you to buy, shop, and eat local.  Our restaurants and hospitality partners depend on these holidays for financial success, and the new restrictions will make it challenging.  If you are a restaurant, hotel, or entertainment business, please contact me as we will assist with free marketing opportunities between now and the end of the year. We are here to support one another and help our businesses keep the lights on and have financial success.

Your guidance, feedback, leadership, and advocacy have been critical components in our approach to navigating this crisis. I look forward to continuing to work together in the weeks and months ahead.

Gratefully yours,

Maureen
Support DCR Chamber Initiatives by Advertising with the 2021 Membership Directory!

Now is the time to plan on kicking the 2021 year off with a bang by advertising in the DCR Directory! Staying connected with members during Covid is critical to the business community’s success.

We have added the opportunity for you to purchase advertising in four colors this year. Black & white ads are still available, but now you have the opportunity to market your business to other Chamber members in four colors with very affordable rates!

Benefits to Advertising in the Directory

  1. High Readership from your Target Market. Members want to do business with other members. The directory allows them to quickly identify members in the category of services they are seeking. Enhancing your listing with an ad allows you to give a more in-depth look at what makes you an industry leader.
  2. Cost-Effective Marketing Tool. With 1/4 page ads starting at $295 for one year of exposure, this is an affordable option to add to your Marketing mix, which directly reaches your target audience. Now you can promote your business in color!
  3. Support of the Chamber. Most importantly a portion of the revenue generated comes back to the Chamber for use towards benefits, programs, and re-investing in the local communities. Also, this directory is presented, when soliciting new members, to demonstrate the robust community organizations involved in our Chamber.

I want to thank you in advance for your support of our previous annual Chamber Membership Directories. We developed this valuable resource to offer you an efficient way to connect with other members and to learn about the other opportunities your membership offers you. If you have any questions you can contact Kristine Richter, Adams Publishing, at Kristine.Richter@apgecm.com, or please feel free to call the Chamber office.

Additionally, please contact us if you have had a change of address or contact info so we can list you properly in the 2021 Directory. Please email Diane Mavis, Dmavis@dcrchamber.com

Thank you for making our annual directory possible and for supporting Chamber initiatives.

DCR Chamber Spends Day Volunteering with DARTS

Earlier this month the DCR Chamber spent a day giving back to the community by volunteering with our friends at DARTS Aging and Caregiving Resources. We spent the afternoon doing fall clean-up for one of our local elderly neighbors. It was a fun and fulfilling afternoon of giving back to our community. Thank you to our friends at MV Ventures, LLC. for coming out and volunteering with us!

We wish her well as she moves on to the next phase of her life.  I want to thank her for the support over my three years and will miss her!  Please help me thank Pam! You can send her an email at Pschmidt@dcrchamber.com or call 651-452-9872.
December Public Affairs Webinar Turnout: Making Minnesota the State That Votes

Join us Friday, December 4, 2020, from 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM for our final Public Affairs Webinar of the year. After the 2020 General Election, conversations regarding elections and voter turnout will be discussed. Please join us as we hear from Joan Anderson Growe and Lori Sturdevant, authors of "Turnout: Making Minnesota the State That Votes"

High voter turnout in Minnesota is no accident. It arose from the traditions of this state's early Yankee and northern European immigrants, and wisely chosen election policies have sustained it. Many of these policies were designed and implemented during the twenty-four-year tenure of Minnesota Secretary of State Joan Anderson Growe. Part of political history and part memoir is a reminder to Minnesotans to cherish and protect their tradition of clean, open elections.
