Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce Announces New 2021 Board Members
The Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce elected two new board members at the October DCR Chamber Board meeting. Amanda Duerr, Charter Communications, and Ryan O'Gara, SKB Environmental, have been asked to serve on the Board of Directors for a three-year term commencing January 1, 2021. 
Amanda Duerr has worked for Charter Communications for two and a half years in the Government Affairs department, first as a Senior Manager and currently as the Director. She is responsible for maintaining positive relationships with the 151 local governments the company serves in Minnesota through engaging elected officials and the local business community, as well as representing Charter Communications before the Minnesota Legislature, closely following the State’s broadband goals and policies. Amanda currently serves on the board of the Minnesota Governmental Relations Council and Girls on the Run Twin Cities. She also serves as the Chair of the DCR Chamber of Commerce Public Affairs Committee. She received a B.A. in Political Science at the University of Minnesota.
Ryan O’Gara has worked for SKB Environmental for over 25 years in various positions. For the last 19 years, he has been SKB’s Government Affairs liaison. He is responsible for monitoring and lobbying issues at the Minnesota State Capitol as well as political issues at the county and city level. He is a registered lobbyist in Minnesota. He is currently serving as the Chairman of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce’s Solid Waste Subcommittee. He is also currently serving on the Dakota County Technical College Foundation Board of Directors. He received a B.A. in English at the University of Colorado.
Additionally, the following individuals have been appointed to serve as the 2021 Officers effective January 1, 2021.

Dakota County Offering CARES Small Business Relief Grant Program
Dakota County is offering local businesses that have suffered financial hardship as a result of COVID-19 or executive orders related to COVID-19 up to $10,000 with the CARES Small Business Relief Grant Program. The Small Business Relief Grant Program was extended for a second round and expanded to include home-based businesses where the profit generated from the business is the primary source of income for the applicant. The federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES) funds this program.

Applications will be accepted between 8 a.m. Oct. 26 and 4:30 p.m. Nov. 6. All required documentation must be included at the time of application. Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Businesses awarded grants in the first round are not eligible for second-round grants.

Get Out and Vote
The 2020 General Election is tomorrow, November 3, 2020. The Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce encourages all our members to use their constitutional right to vote in this crucial election for our cities, county, state, and country. If you have not registered to vote, you still can. You can register or update your registration when you vote at your polling place on Election Day, you will need proof of residence to register. Join the DCR Chamber of Commerce, virtually, Friday, November 6, 2020, from 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM for our next Public Affairs Breakfast. Hear from Mayor Bill Droste, Rosemount, Mayor Mike Maguire, Eagan, and Mayor Dave Napier, West St. Paul, for a candid discussion of each mayor's priorities for 2021. We will hear their specific issues of importance and the economic outlooks for their cities. Other topics that will be discussed are the impacts of civil unrest, the Coronavirus pandemic, transportation, economic development, affordable housing, and how these cities will work together in the future.

We are looking for a few volunteers to help the DCR Chamber staff with the DARTS Fall Clean-Up Program. The DCR Chamber has been assigned an older adult homeowner who needs help preparing their yard for the changing season.
