Dr. Laura Kalambokidis is Minnesota's State Economist, heading up the Economic Analysis unit at MMB, which is responsible for producing and presenting the state's revenue and economic forecasts, and had held the position since 2013.

Susan Brower is the Minnesota State Demographer and has directed the MN State Demographic Center since February 2012. Susan's work applies an understanding of demographic trends to changes in a range of areas including the state's economy and workforce, education, health, immigration, and rural population changes.

Virtual Town Forums - TCMC Second Train - What’s in it for the Twin Cities?
More than 10 million trips are taken between the Twin Cities and Chicago each year. More than 100,000 of those trips are on Amtrak, but there’s only one train per day, and it’s usually full. Adding a second train will benefit companies that ship by freight rail, the tourism industry, and, of course, travelers.

Learn more at the next Virtual Forum, April 22 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., sponsored by the Great River Rail Commission and co-hosted by the Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Minneapolis Regional Chamber.

Who should attend:
  • Business leaders whose companies ship or receive product by freight rail
  • Leaders in the tourism industry (hotels, restaurants, events, attractions)
  • College or university officials
  • People who like to travel
  • College students

All meetings will be hosted via Zoom video conferencing and will feature representatives from each area. Learn more HERE

Participate in Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis Survey
Due to the stress related to COVID-19, the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis is tracking the ongoing effects on businesses across the Ninth District, a region that includes Minnesota, the Dakotas, Montana, parts of Wisconsin, and Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Please take the 5-minute survey to help the Minneapolis Fed better understand effects on individual firms as well as local, regional, and state economies more broadly which, in turn, will help the Federal Reserve System shape monetary policy to help businesses weather this economic shock. All responses are anonymous. To maintain anonymity, please do not include any self-identifying information in any comments. Take Survey HERE.
