DeISD Announce Campus Teachers of the Year
Each year, DeSoto Independent School District recognizes the outstanding efforts of incredible teacher leaders at campuses across the district.

Each campus staff participates in a process to nominate a campus and staff member for his or her outstanding service to the school and community.

2020 Forensic Report Released
The DeSoto ISD Board of Trustees have received the finalized and approved forensic report conducted by Weaver & Tidwell LLP.

The Board reviewed the report to ensure that all key questions were answered and to evaluate sharing with outside agencies, including the Texas Education Agency and law enforcement.

DeISD to Add Dinner Meals to Grab & Go Distribution
Beginning Monday, May 11, 2020, the DeSoto Independent School District Child Nutrition Department will offer dinner meals as part of the current twice-weekly grab and go meal service distribution to ensure greater access to daily meals for the children in the community in light of the continuing shelter-in-place ordinance in Dallas County due to COVID-19.

Fine Arts Dept. Wins Communities Award
For the fourth consecutive year, DeSoto ISD has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The National Association of Music Merchants Foundation. Districts selected for this prestigious award have demonstrated outstanding achievement and provide music access and quality music education to all students in grades pre-kindergarten to twelfth.

DeISD Announces Decision Season
The College, Career and Military Readiness Department has partnered with Advise Texas to celebrate College Decision Day in a unique and exciting way. Beginning May 8, 2020, and every Friday of the month, DeSoto ISD will host the 2020 DeSoto College Decision Season video series on the district’s Facebook and Instagram platforms announcing the postsecondary decisions of the DHS Class of 2020.

DHS Girls Basketball Rank in ESPN
The DeSoto High School Girls Basketball program had an impressive 2019-2020 season ending with three of the players being ranked in  ESPN’s Class of 2022 HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings – Super 60.
RYE Coordinator Hosts Front Porch Celebration
In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, Ruby Young Elementary Site Coordinator Kimberly Mosley and her family, crafted handwritten notes for every magnet teacher at the campus and added them to the decor at the front entrance of her home for teachers to drop by and pick up along with a token of appreciation.

Glenn Heights Seeks to Honor DeSoto ISD Seniors
At the May 19 council meeting, Glenn Heights Mayor Harry Garrett will read a proclamation recognizing the graduating seniors of 2020. The city would like to compile a list of all Glenn Heights seniors for their records. If you reside in Glenn Heights and would like to be included on this listing, please email  Lauren.Lewis@GlennHeightsTx.gov   your name and next steps (college, military, career), noting that you attend DeSoto High School.
The deadline for submission is Tuesday, May 12, 2020.

DeSoto to Salute 2020 Seniors
DeSoto Police Clergy and Community and the City of DeSoto are planning a special salute to the Senior class of 2020. Save the date of May 20 from 1 to 4 pm at DeSoto High School. More details will be sent soon.
