DeISD Counselors Ensure Student Wellness
The Student Support Services department has also implemented a system to help counselors remain responsive to students and staff. Students can connect with counselors individually via email, phone, as well as schedule times for individual support needs. Also, during ongoing student wellness checks with their teachers, campus and district staff have a system in place to refer students that prompt concern to the appropriate counselor.
Navigating Anytime, Anywhere Learning: Tutorials & More
Realizing the need to alleviate potential challenges students and families may experience in utilizing the AAL framework, the DeSoto ISD Teaching, Learning and Leadership Division created a wide-ranging database of instructional and tutorial videos to support stakeholders navigating this shift to self-guided remote learning. The video database features tutorials on accessing learning management systems including Schoology and Google Classroom.

Celebrating National Library Week
DeSoto ISD values its district librarians, Diana Frazier and Diane Gill and all of the campus library media assistants and aides. Each plays an extremely important role in the education of students by providing skills they will need to access and use information throughout their lives. Librarians also help students and their families cultivate and nurture an interest in life-long learning and ignite a love for reading and the joys of being around books.
Town Hall Focused on Mental Health and Wellness
Continuing the Town Hall Tuesday at Noon series, this week’s installment touched on mental and physical health during the COVID-19 pandemic. The panel included DeSoto Alums & Family Medicine Practitioners - Dr. Jelani Ingram & Dr. Ahmad Garrett-Price; and Mental Health and Wellness Doctors – Dr. Brenda Richardson Rowe and Dr. Mona Robbins.
