District Provides Update on Operation During COVID-19
The DeSoto Independent School District has implemented Anytime, Anywhere Learning, distributed a significant number of meals and technology devices to students and passed a resolution to pay its employees during school closures.
Board Considers Mental Health Days for Employees
Investing in a mentally healthy workforce is good for people and also good for business which is why DeSoto Independent School District plans to adjust leave policies to consider the addition of mental health leave as an added benefit for employees starting in the 2020-2021 academic school year. After review of the local policy and other district comparisons, the DeISD Board of Trustees discussed the expansion of the policy to include one additional local leave day, two mental health days, and bereavement days.
Tech Expansion Critical to DeSoto ISD
While Anytime, Anywhere Learning relies heavily on the use of digital platforms, the district understands the many hardships that the mandated closure of schools in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic has created for families and staff members in adjusting to the nuances of remote learning. As the district developed its plan to provide a continuation of learning and instruction, leaders also understood the importance of helping to close the digital divide for students and families. 
Town Hall to Focus on Mental Health and Wellness
The April 21, 2020, installment of the DeSoto ISD Town Hall Tuesdays at Noon series, a new weekly, mid-day virtual dialogue set to take place every Tuesday in April, will focus on physical and emotional wellness during the CoVid-19 public health crisis. This health and wellness dialogue will include insights from medical experts in the DeSoto Community.
